Another DC-area sniper-style shooting
Wife (FReeper nina0113) | October 4, 2002 | Steve0113

Posted on 10/04/2002 12:02:50 PM PDT by Steve0113

Another broad-daylight shooting just occurred, this time in Fredericksburg, VA, just off I-95. It's not even on the news yet.

About an hour's drive south of where the Montgomery County shootings happened, a woman was shot in the parking lot of a Michaels fabric store. My wife was in the store at the time. The victim had left the store and carried her purchases to her minivan. She unlocked the minivan and was loading her stuff into it when she was shot. No sign of the shooter.

No one else was injured.

The woman was taken away in an ambulance, condition unknown. Her license plate (which I'm not going to post) indicated that she had several children.

Impossible. Such an individual wouldn't be caught dead driving a white Isuzu.

Well certainly not a lavender Isuzu.

He says the lady was putting pachkages in the trunk of her Toyota hatchback when the bulet, which does not appear to be from a high powered rifle, hit her in the lower back.

Why don't I believe these guys? During yesterday's reports we waited forever for some sort of ballistic forensic info; and now these guys make a determination within two hours? My bs sensors have been alerted.

These shootings remind me of the Son of Sam killings described in the book, The Ultimate Evil. Several people were involved in the shootings. A few were deliberate hits and the other shootings were to throw the cops off. At least one was videotaped. This has eerie similarities.

I agree. Notice they mentioned an exit wound. From long range that would rule out most handgun calibers.

One has to wonder how that putz Sanchez feels about vehicular homicide at Joe Robbie stadium while drunk and fleeing the scene.

He did just that some 10-12 years ago.

Mine, too, especially since there's now this report of a possible second shooting.

However, I'm guessing they'd be able to tell what kind of round it was by the type of exit wound this woman suffered.

Shooting this person would be too good for them. Draw and quarter the jerk and leave him for the buzzards.

Sounds like fun, but even that would be over too quickly. Now, fire ants...

That stopped in the early 80's in my home town. Nobody wanted to get their rifle stolen. An effect of liberal judges.

I nominate PETA, long as we're engaging in paranoia.

I wasn't engaging in paranoia so much as sarcastically bracing for the news media's fixation on the gun aspect (and by association, the right-wing aspect). At this point it could be terrorists, left-wingers, right-wingers, jilted lovers, crackpots, Al Gore, etc.

Stationary targets...good clue...Check the local target ranges???

Pretty scary...What is it he's trying to say...I can do this to anyone, anywhere, anytime???

Passing thought...Did these people ever serve on a jury together??

And don't forget the shooting in NY at the UN this week!!

Is that perhaps the reason why he doesn't practice law?

Well, a .22 magnum, .357, or .44 would probably go through you at 100 yards if fired from a rifle. If fired from a handgun then still possible, but the bullet wouldn't have as much energy as if fired from a rifle.

From Nina0113:

Well I made it home okay but am still somewhat shaky. Thanks to everyone for their concern.

The last word I heard from the radio is, she was shot from the Pizza Hut parking lot, which is across 5 lanes of traffic & a median strip. Her minivan was in the first space in the parking lot, right across from the sidewalk. The parking lot is about 20 spaces wide. So with that kind of distance, & an exit wound, I don't think that could have been a handgun. I'm not a gun person, but maybe someone who is could confirm or reject that? They were still looking for the bullet last I heard.

What I saw:

I was just writing my check at the register, when an employee grabbed the intercom & told everyone to stay in the store. Someone said what happened, she said, someone told her a woman had been shot in the parking lot. Another employee was calling 911, LEOs & rescue got there, loaded her onto a stretcher & took her away. Her keys & her purse & her shopping were all laying on the ground behind the van. First they wouldn't let anybody leave the store, then they let us on the sidewalk so we all lit up. They taped off part of the parking lot & were only letting cars outside the tape leave.
