Today on the Senate floor, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) said his office has received over 9,000 phone calls supporting him in his actions to block a vote on the Iraq resolution.
What Byrd didn't mention was the number of calls his office has received telling him to stop blocking the President!!! Maybe because he has not heard from enough people, yet.
Sen. Robert Byrd (D) 311 Hart Senate Office Building (202) 224-3954; 228-0002 Charleston: (304) 342-5855 http://byrd.senate.gov/ senator_byrd@byrd.senate.gov
I called this afternoon and spoke to a rather unpleasant young woman who answered the phone. She did take my message and said it would be passed on. Freep away people, it's time to take our country back!!!!!!

If the people look at the Senate and think "there goes off his rocker Byrd again" that does not help usI disagree. Byrd is impressing no one, nobody will be swayed from what they already believe by his tirade, and each delay and obstruction makes the whole Democrat party look bad -- why do you think Daschle is trying so hard to end this filibuster? As one of Rush's favorite maxims has it, "When your opponent insists on making a fool of himself, get out of the way and let him."

Demoflops want desparately to change the subject from Iraq to the economy, and they are running out of time before the election.
Demoflops are desparate because polling data show they have lost the field of debate to the Republicans right now.
The only way for them to retake the field is to get Iraq off the discussion, and put the economy on.
The only problem with their plan is their own folks - they can't shut up Senator Byrd. The distinguished Senator is really distinguishing himself with members of his own party by keeping the Iraq discussion on the board longer and longer.
If Byrd wants to keep this up for awhile longer (a week to ten days is about my limit of tolleration), then fine. It will redound to the benefit of the pubbies in the election, and then Byrd won't matter quite so much.

You seem not to get it .....Byrd is out of control.....the RATS are pulling their hair out.....they want this issue OFF THE TABLE...
If night after night they show that dottering old fool standing on the Senate floor screaming ......... Pretty....Pretty.....Pretty ....it will help us.
Byrd becomes the face of the Democratic Party!

Must be the same 9000 people Eric Roberts claims are in touch with phone calls to congress. The calls to congress are 150 against War authorization in Iraq for every one call supporting Bush according to Mr.Roberts.
On related topics, Mr.Roberts claims to be a member of an elite race of superior beings who's leader is on the Mother-Ship in constant communication with Barbara Streisand and Charles Manson.

Did anyone catch his rambling silly speech about "Paul Bunyen" and lilliputins tying him down with tiny cords? I guess the implication was suppose to be that this is what the Demoncrats intend to do to President Bush. Someone throw this old coot in an old folks home.

I agree Byrd helps the GOP, what does not help is his obstruction gives the anti-war crowd in the Senate a pass. It does not hold their feet to the fire to come out against the President.
With polls showing 70% of Americans approve of going into NJ don't you think it will piss many of them off if their democratic senator is forced to come out and state he's against the war?

Dang- you'd think with all of the pro-terrorist Muslims in this country plus all of the Aryan Nation guys and the KKK members out there, Byrd would have way more than 9000 supporting him.

The public wants action - so if some demoflop who has totally lost his mind (redundant?) wants to delay what a majority of the people want - more power to him.
Mr. Byrd - the election is in 28 days. I think your fellow demoflops want a word with you. ;)

No, I missed that one!!!!!!! While I believe forcing Senators to say to the voters they either stand with or against the President helps us more then Byrd's ramblings, I will miss him tantrums.

You wonder what kind of government we deserve when ANY person of ANY party is elected for forty years or more. I am speaking of Byrd, Thurmond and the rest of them that are working on forty years. Give 'em time.
Think of all the deals, the pork, and most to win themselves re-election. The country is secondary to their power grab.
With campaign finance reform, no person can mount a challenge to any of these people. Without money how can any newcomer get his or her message out.
Just look at the people in the Senate and House who are there term after term after term. It is not a recipe for good government. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Bring back term limits for all of them.
We deserve better government than we are getting.

Bring back term limits for all of them. We deserve better government than we are getting. So why do we keep voting for them? Term limits are real simple to effect - simply vote for someone else.
