You asked if we wondered how Bush got into Yale and Harvard, I would guess that it was the same way that Gore did.

The downturn in the economy started in 2000, before Bush took office, but of course, you knew that. Actually it started the spring of that year when the Clinton administration attacked Micro-soft for political reasons.

I'll take a tax break anytime it's offered but this ain't going to do the job. Joe and me six-pack don't know squat about what influences the market and we don't have 5 years in which to study it indepth to garner that understanding. We are merely working stiffs who contribute to our 401-k's via payroll deductions every week.

It doesn't matter which fund we contribute to because they are all tanking, some less than others but nonetheless, all tanking.

Every damn night we watch the news and they have some damn wallstreet "expert" explaining to us idiots why we are losing our retirement funds. Every night it is a different "expert" with a different opinion and tomorrow night it will be the same. Who knows, tomorrow night's so-called expert will blame it on the Lions's loss today.

For all I know it might just be a conspiracy by the big wallstreet brokerages to deliberately destroy the economy of 2.5 years ago just to get the democraps back in office.

I don't have a clue as to what is going on and from what I have been watching on TV, nobody else does either..........

Lindsey Graham Finally pulled out the facts: it was the betrayal of Benedict Jeffords and the leadership of the Dasshole democrat criminal senate that has caused the economic flop we are in.....

For what it's worth, I had already lost 1/3 of my lifetime investments by the time that worthless scum turned traitor. I'll be the first in line to horsewhip that worthless piece of %$&#$%$^% but it won't be because of the economy......

>They're all politicians, so they're only interested in >personal power and keeping it however they can. What, >exactly, is a tax cut if not an attempt to buy votes?

There is a difference in the relationships. In one relationship, power is obtained by creating reliance -- higher taxes-->bigger government-->more entitlements-->dependence on entitlements-->dependence on government This is a parasitic relationship -- the final result is complete reliance on elected officials.

The second type of relationship is mutual empowerment. Tax cuts-->smaller government-->fewer entitlements-->self-reliance. Ultimately, the fortunes of the ciizen are not bound to the whim of the politician.

You're probably right.

These has been a lot of crap with company's revenue and earnings which contributed to "the bubble".

Many people have lost faith in the earnings reports issued by corporations.
