I could make the same claims per my perspective.

But I'm sure you've come across such historical descriptions and interpretations before. I have no burning need to rehash such for the umpteen millionth time.

I merely want to note that your perspective is not the only historically based one.

Make this claims, please.

I have no burning need to rehash such for the umpteen millionth time.

Actually I never could get this answer from evangelical Protestants when I asked. Somehow the topic was being changed or abandoned. So please give me the answer as it will be the FIRST time.

In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit only came upon the 12.

This argument needs to be put to rest. Heathen testimonies to Jesus are few and meagre, but they are NOT, nonexistent. Philip Schaff discusses them in History of the Christian Church VolI, pp.90-100 and following.
The oldest heathen testimony is probably the Syriac letter of Mara, a philosopher, to his son Serapion, about A.D. 74.
He asks,
"For what benefit did the Athenians obtain by puttung Socrates to death,...Or the people of Samos by the burning of Pythagoras, ...Or the Jews by the murder of their Wise King,...?
The Anti_Nicene Fathers,eds. Alexander Roberts & James Donaldson, T&T Clatk, Edinburgh.Vol. VIII, P. 737.

And I read a trilogy that suggested that the Bavarian Illuminati are trying to immanentize the eschaton so that they can absorb the death energies of all the people killed in the apocalypse and be immortalized. It was called 'Illuminatus!' and I'd call it an interesting book, too.

But then, I figure a lot fewer people here have ever heard of 'Illuminatus!' than have now heard of HB, HG.

And I wouldn't be considering 'interesting' to also suggest 'useful' or 'edifying'. I'm here hoping you wouldn't either.

"Where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is our only source of God's Truth? Answer: nowhere"

Uh, how about reading this...

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

And then read....

Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

When the Church was established the Scriptures of the New Testament were not written yet! The Church was first the books were written later. The Church is not based on the Bible, the Bible is based on the Church.

Same with the Old Testament - Jews were first and then the books were written. Moses was before books of Moses and Prophets were before the books of Prophets, David was before the Psalms and Kings were before the books of Kings.

CNN is a bit late to the party, there are countless historical NON biblical references to Christ, including but not limited to his actual crucifiction record by the romans.

Pretty clever.

I'd like to see a similar list about Muhammad. But of course you'd have to go into hiding after publishing it to keep the fatwa on your life from being carried out.

"The history channel said he was just a right wing radical anyway."

But one of Alan Colmes' favorite mantras is, "Jesus was a liberal!"

I'm so confused, because I thought both Alan and the History Channel were never wrong about anything, and now they contradict each other??

Your ignorance of the scriptures is astounding. Your concept of the church even more so.

Mark 6:3 says, "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him." See also Matthew 12:46.

Just how is this perpetual? No where in the Bible is she called a Perpetual Virgin, or even hinted at.

I see, so you claim that the Church was established by the first Christians reading the Bible which they bought at Barnes and Nobles? In KJV English of course.

You are correct. Luke chapter one is the easiest passage to turn to to demonstrate that. Also, take Paul's epistles, they were letters not to churches yet to be established, but to churches already established.

LOL!! Those are good. SirKit says that one of the biggest differences between Christianity and Islam is that Christians can laugh at inoffensive jokes about their faith, Muslims want to kill anyone who makes light of Mohammed or Islam.

Anyone else notice that this thread started nearly FOUR YEARS AGO. Whatever direct evidence was found, I guess it wasn't conclusive proof 'cause we're still arguing.

Who raise this thread from the dead anyway?

Oh. I probably shouldn't've said that.

A lot of people forget that Jesus descended into Hell, and released the souls there during the resurrection..... because of life after death.... So Mary 's spirit is alive.

But Mary wasn't dead yet.

Een the conclusive proofs are not sufficient for some.

Thanks for posting this. I don’t need physical evidence to believe in Jesus, but it’s always a pleasant surprise when scientists who demand physical evidence start finding it.

I don’t understand all the sarcasm and tasteless Jesus jokes on this forum though. I thought most conservatives where Christian or at least have respect those that are. I have seen follow-up comments that I would only expect from places like the DU, and I find that disturbing.
