Stunned by Sen. Paul Wellstone's death, shaken state Democrats tried to decide who might replace him in a race that could decide control of the U.S. Senate.

Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer said the law allows the party to nominate a new candidate to run in Wellstone's spot. She declined to address other details, including how absentee ballots already filled out would be handled.

This plane crash is freaking spooky....
Something's fishy here because Wellstone was losing in the polls, do you think The Rats would off one of their own?
In order to get a replacement?
Wellstone wasn't as spineless as Torreleci, and wouldn't drop out?

Has little Tommy Daschle made a public statement yet? Where the hell is the (illegal, non-elected) leader of the Senate?

The AG is WRONG...if Ventura appointed someone to fill Wellstone's term, it would be until January, not the election day - the term ends in January.

If I were a Democrat Senatorial candidate in electoral trouble, I sure wouldn't fly the month before the election.

The "Torch" is well out of it.

However appointees to a seat have their terms expire at the next general election... (e.g. Carnahan situation).

Did you read your own article? He was leading by 6 points. And c'mon, people... The Democratic party did not arrange this plane crash, it was an accident. It happens. The guy probably flew 20-30 times a year, even more in election years.

Let's act responsible with our information here, and not jump to conclusions.

I just got off work and haven't read any Wellstone threads yet.

I was about to ask if Michael Rivero and his gang have come up with a conspiracy theory to explain it all yet.

Here's how it's going to go (just a hunch, but it sounds like something the Rats would - and will - do):

NOBODY will replace Wellstone on the ballot for the Rats. The Rats can claim it's too late (as far as the absentee ballots), but the real reason is that no LIVING Rat candidate will be able to pull as many sympathy votes as the dead guy (Carnahan redux).

As is well known, Massive Democratic Vote Fraud ® is well underway in Minnesota, with the National Socialists (Nazis) invading the state to "get out the [fraud] vote" using that dirty same-day registration trick.

Coleman will lose to the corpse on Election Day, and Massive Democratic Vote Fraud ® will ensure the victory of Roger Moe, the Rat candidate for Governor. This is important because the new Governor will be the one to appoint Wellstone's replacement. Whoever Ventura sends to Washington now is irrelelvant as far as that goes, since that person would only serve for 2 months.

Wellstone was locked in a tight battle with Republican Norm Coleman in one of the nation's most closely watched races

Guess the Dems felt the need to replace him. Deal with Democrats, you gamble with your life. This election will decide the supreme court. If a democrat is losing, he/she has to be replaced - one way or another.

I was about to ask if Michael Rivero

Why not invent your own? That's what michael redvero does (and no TRUE conservative would be dealing with slime like him in the first place) ...

The corpse can't run. The election code is clear about that. The Democrats can't take the chance that the law would be enforced, so they HAVE to name someone, and Wellstone's name will have a magic marker drawn through it on the ballots.

In fact, the entire slate of Senate candidates will be printed on a supplemental ballot.

With elections now made to fit the predetermined results, the Demoncats can now replace Paul Welfare and the Laut with the Whore of Babylon and the Antichrist - completely removing the voter from the process - as they do in Iraq, Cuba and the former Soviet Union.

We are achieving the Demoncat dream - unelected officials appointed over the sheeple by the power brokers at the top.

The only tears I am shedding is for the loss of a fine Beech Air King 100. Paul Welfare was an vociferous anti american hate filled marxist.

Not only do they have to replace him if they hope to have a chance, the law also says that absentee ballots will not be reprinted, and any absentee ballots cast for Wellstone, will be counted for Wellstone, not for the new candidate!
