Porn on Free Republic

Are any of you getting a pop up add from themensnetwork.com, when on Free Republic. This thing is a homosexual porno piece of trash that pops up full screen when I am reading FreeRepublic. Is there anything that can be done to keep the add from poping up?

I concur with all the advice you're getting to install AdAware from LavaSoft.

If you go that route, I recommend you do a scan with it daily. It's amazing how much spy-ware is picked up by routine web-browsing.

I was at least hoping that it was someone complaining about Anna Kournikova photos, and then we'd have to post a bunch and discuss them.

I think that should be done anyhow.
Just in case.

I haven't had this problem. Telling people to use Ad-Aware is good advice, I use it myself. The person with the pop-up ad must have some spyware on their computer.

You might also want to try The Proxomitron. It's a VERY customizable web filter. There's alot of options, so it might take some time to configure just right for your web use.

Spyware nor popups have no chance on this dude's machine.

I use Ad-Aware and browse with Opera with the popup block enabled. And I have the browser set to delete all new cookies when I close it. I'll never go back to Explorer.

Fortunately, only users of Microsoft Windows are receiving this garbage.

If you want to be rid of it for good, get a Mac.
