Not to gloat! BUT:
My entry for the 2003 Bulwer-Lytton Fiction contest.
Political category:
It might have been a Grey night, but that was all as Tom drove his ramshackle demo-car along Constitution Avenue with the ominous Right Turn Only signs taunting him with every passing block and noticing that his gas-gauge was reading empty while knowing the air was leaving his re-tread tires and the 50-50 oil he was counting on was dripping like a sieve out of the corrupted base of this car that he knew would not last another two years, when he remembered his mission was to find some sour-grapes to bring to the funeral he was to attend.

I cant think of anything we would have done differently. I wouldnt change anything, he said. There is the problem. He has no clue!!!

It is too early to tell what will happen on Iraq, but you will probably see a far more hawkish position and confrontational tone to their approach, Daschle said. Wrong. Still playing the same brand of stupid politics that lost him the election. Bush has been moving quietly and confidently ahead on Iraq, and this won't change his timetable in the least. Nor is Bush about to start ranting and raving and warmongering in a "confrontational tone" of voice. "Confrontational tone" is what Daschle, Gore, and McAuliffe like to resort to. That's why they lost.

Daschle finds new meaning to the term "outcome based education".

I watched a little bit of the Today show today. But I have to admit, the bits that I watched made me feel very alienated, like I wasn't the target audience for the day. They had a lot of Democrats on their. And a lot of them were giving the same old thing about "The economy is so important." It is very important, which is why we needed Republican control. Since when did people start looking to the Democrats to fix the economy? Do all the media people believe that raising taxes and spending more money on superfluous programs will give our economy a boost? Also, I heard Katie Curic comment that the Republicans were "Crowing" today. It is just me, or does anyone else find that characterization VERY insulting?

Funny, Mr McAuliffe is giddy about last night. ever the saleman. Then again, he is worth $100 million and over 6' tall, so he can afford to be happy. Daschle is only 4'11" and poor so he needs this job to help his wife get cushy contracts while compromising America's security.
Daschle is toast. He better retire, or Thune will take HIM out.

The president ought to feel good this morning, and I congratulate him. We had a president who talked a lot about 9-11, the war in Iraq, and North Korea. It precluded us from breaking through, talking about issues like the economy, education and health care, he said. Bovine scat. The President taked about those issues too. The RATS simply had nothing to say about them. What was the RATS' solution to the economy, education and health care? They never advanced any kind of agenda at all. Saying you are "concerned" about problems is not a political platform.

Real bad news for him - CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM NOW KICKS IN. Now that the Republicans have majorities in both, they'll never give them up again...all thanks to the DEMS.
