A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day - Weekend....11-16,17-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends: We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review those who've been featured during the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello to them now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. :)

Ladtx is out of town this weekend, so he sent this post to dansangel to post on his behalf. Dansangel was not able to wait for the thread
to be posted on "Left Coast Time" before she had to leave to run some errands, so she sent this to me to post.

I am happy to be able to help ladtx and dansangel keep these names before us. God rest their souls, each and every one.

Good morning Lori. Thank you for posting the weekend thread. I especially liked your Einstein quote and accompanying graphic with the deer.

The calendar page for today reminded me of Nan and her husband. Kayak's Prayer Thread for Nan is still up. Let's keep it bumped."

Welllllllll, not here. We've been having a spell of dense tule fog, typical for this time of year. Last night and early this morning there was zero visiblility in the valley. We decided not to try to make the drive up to the Fresno rally......just not worth the risk.

But, I thank God for this day, no matter how dreary. Today will be a good day to snuggle in at home, maybe do some baking or start a good book. :-)

That kitten is adorable! Your graphic made me smile. And, lovely music for a Saturday morning, too. Thank you, Aqua.

WE HAVE SNOW!!!!! Not a lot and it's starting to melt, but the reality of winter (AND CHRISTMAS) being just around the corner has hit...I'M NOT READY! Getting ready for the theater (42nd Street). Will stop back in tonight.

BTW, did anyone else force themselves to watch the Gores on 20/20 last night. The guy is absolutely dillusional. He still thinks he won!!!! I'm sure there's a thread on it somewhere...Have a good afternoon all!

No, but I did see him on Letterman last night. I guess he is making the rounds hawking his book. I have to admit, he was quite entertaining last night, but that is the only thing 'good' I can say about him......he's a joke. LOL!

Enjoy the theater and your first snow. I remember being a little kid back east and each winter wishing for the first snow. I would strain my eyes looking towards the streetlights to see the first flake float down. I'm sure it is snowing......I am SURE it is! Of course, then I would hope that those few flakes would pile up and mean NO SCHOOL in the morning. LOL! :-)

This 'bears' seeing again, Mama_Bear ~ ~

Wonder because of God's creations and provisions is a precious thing - as are all His gifts.

Looking out the window at the falling rain and the colored leaves finally 'letting go,' one is reminded of His cycles of life.
His Presence is confirmed by them, and in the midst of attacks by the fallen one, who has dominion over the earth, we are reminded of His constancy!

In these especially perilous times for mankind, we can see that He still is in control - take comfort that in turning to Him in our hearts and trying to live His Way, we need have no fear.
Should harsh and terrible things befall us - and they seem to be imminent - He can give us the strength and courage to 'keep on keeping on' and sustain us.

Ladtx, your daily posts are reminders of the many - from these heroic helicopter crews and current ones and others in the air, to the grunts on ground and those at sea and all those who support the efforts to defend America - who lived or now live their beliefs and ideals.
Each of them are among God's wonders, as men and women who stood or stand now in the gap against the evils of others!

May each of us continue to have wonder rather than fear, looking to Him.

Clear skies, calm winds, and sinking air under an anticyclone over the eastern Pacific allowed cool air to settle at the bottom of this Diablo Range valley on the morning of Feb 10, 1988.

Good morning all. It is a dark, rainy day in the Pacific Northwest. I am headed to a funeral this morning. (Brother's mother-in-law.) By the gravesite in the rain... When winter hits here, the sun goes away. I am so thankful for the cheery words of Dansangel and Mama_Bear and Pippin which remind me the sun is still here, even if not seen.
