Thanks for giving me the heads up.

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of this young law enforcement officer and mourn with and pray for his family. I pray God in Heaven will rest his soul and comfort his loved ones and help bring justice to the criminal.

I have spent quite a bit of time in that general area. My wife's mother's family is from Gridley and we used to go there every year for their family re-unions. Good, salt of the earth people.

I hope they get to talk to this POI soon. I hope if he is the perp, or for whomever is the perp, that they catch, prosecute, convict and execute soon.

I found the one sentence in the other article odd where they indicated that the officer's weapon was found near him but could not tell if it had been used or not. Seemed it would be a fairly straight forward deduction as to hether it had been fired.

This is one way to find that witness and then find the guy.

The use of Free Republic to spread the word and the description of the witness up and down the west can help.

We saw what happened to the DC Snipers once the description of their vehicle got out to the public. In hours they were spotted by the truck driver and boxed in at the rest spot off the freeway.

Please bump the description to your friends on Free Republic. I will be sending an email with his description to my Kali and Oregon email list this morning.

Jeff, please use your big ping list to spread the word about this witness and his description.

Re his pistol, I have a terrible feeling that somehow the perp got the officer's pistol and may have used it on him.

It is not rocket science to tell if a Glock or a 357 revolver was used.

OKay Dave and Neil ... will do with this reply.

FYI all ... please read and be on the lookout. This individual needs to be spoken to about the murder of a fine officer.

Re: the weapon.

Officer Mobilio apparently saw what was about to happen and had time to draw his weapon. He did NOT get a chance to fire it before he was killed. His weapon was not fired when they found it, 3 feet from his body.

I'm guessing that the initial report that they could not determine if it was fired or not was apparently because the investigators left it where it was found while they were processing the crime scene. Once the entire crime scene was processed for evidence, they examined the weapon and determined that it had not been fired. According to investigators, they DID recover quite a bit of evidence from the scene. Hopefully, they will be able to identify this POI soon, and pick him up for questioning.

More on the POI: The witness, who authorities stressed is not a suspect, is a white male in his early 20s, wearing a beanie and driving a brown or tan Oldsmobile Achieva, about seven to 10 years old, authorities said. A California Highway Patrol officer who spotted the car recorded the California license number as 3GNK307 (MY NOTE: the lic. number is similar to this to but one number is different), but Department of Motor Vehicles records show those numbers, in that sequence, are invalid.

Please keep this bumped. Let's identify this POI and find the vehicle.

Thanks for the clarification and more info on the officer's weapon.

Hopefully the evidence they found at the scene will help ... with a near match on the license plate and the description, I hope they make progress quickly.

BUMP again.

Thanks for the update and the vehicle description and partial tag #.

Before I send out my personal emails, I was waiting for something like that. I will be sending out my personal emails with the description of the witness and his vehicle about mid morning to all friends and relatives on the West Coast.

This is just a recap of the vehicle description from Neil and the artist's description of the possible witness of the murder of the police officer. This will put the artist sketch and vehicle description on replies #50 to #100:

Neil I just sent the following email to my West Coast email contacts:

"This weekend a young police officer, a father and a husband, was gunned down and killed in Red Bluff.

There is now a West Coast alert out for a witness to this murder. The description of the witness and his vehicle is below.

Please send a copy of this to all of your email friends/relatives on the West Coast.

The witness, who authorities stressed is not a suspect, is a white male in his early 20s, wearing a beanie and driving a brown or tan Oldsmobile Achieva, about seven to 10 years old, authorities said. Good we have the West Coast covered now re Free Republic.

Now, we need to notify our relatives, friends and contacts on the West Coast via email re the description of this witness and his car.

I have received 4 emails back from my email that went out a few minutes ago. These people have in turn sent my email to their email lists. So the artist sketch of the witness and his vehicle are now out there beyond Free Republic.

I live in a strip town (kind that parallels an interstate) and am going to stores to post this piece of trash's picture in the stores and gas stations that service the freeway traffic.

That is an excellent thing to do and a suggestion for anyone who lives along I5, I80 or any interstate or major highway on the West Coast.

Two of my mail friends are sending out the picture of the witness and his car on their company mail. One owns his company so no problem. The other sent a copy to the CEO, and he is allowing this friend to send it out to all employees, customers and providers. They cover the state of California from the Mexican Border to the Yreka area. Each email recipient is being asked to do the same re forwarding it.
