We have a winner for the Miss Eejit contest - I'm afraid it's Miss Ireland:

My hobbies are: Surfing, singing, piano, Irish dancing, I also have played for the Ladies All Ireland garlic football team and sang for the American Ambassador to Ireland at her residence for a Christmas Party. It is my ambition to achieve as many of the goals I set for myself in life and to be healthy and happy.

I STILL say Miss Israel looks like Julia Roberts...

Miss Yugoslavia looks like a young Liz Taylor.

Miss Lithuania looks like my husband's late mother and looks more oriental than Miss Japan (all that Slavic blood), and Miss Belgium looks lke a relic leftover from the late 60's.

The least beautiful of these women is extraordinarily beautiful. Might as well spin the roulette wheel to choose the winner.

Wow, what pretty girls! Yet, Miss Gibraltar in particular gave me a whap between the eyes. She made me think of Olivia Hussey, I remember her from the 1968 Zefferelli version of Romeo & Juliet. Can you see it?

Some of these girls are very lovely indeed, and may someday be great beauties. Others look as though they were registered with the American Kennel Club. None of them is the most beautiful woman in the world; none has the beauty imparted by a bit of maturity and intelligence. It's very difficult to understand how some of them got chosen for a contest for "most beautiful."

I think a really fair beauty contest would be one in which all the constestants had to appear with freshly-washed faces, their hair hanging down, wearing nothing but a very minimal string bikini.

The winner clearly should have been Miss Northern Ireland, and that is not because of my Irish heritage. Miss Germany looks like she has cramps. Miss Kenya looks like an illegitimate child of Jesse Jackson. Is Miss Argentina an albino who died her hair? Miss Australia -- she makes you want to go visit the land down under.
