So why doesn't the governor of Arizona make this effort official by calling up their militia?

Because we've had a RINO she-governor who has helped wipe out our state budget surplus so that misguided Arizonans recently elected a democRAT she-governor. The two of them are now working together on "border issues".

Radio news on my conservative radio station now reporting the militia story from the Washington Times.

If I'm not mistaken, the penalty for treason is death by hanging.

That sounds appropriate to me.

From your mouth to God's ears, my friend. I just don't trust that the government - especially the FBI/ATF/INS mafia centralized under Ashcroft - have changed in the slightest.

Tell you what though, if they try to pull something, I may have to kiss my wife goodbye, grab my Remington 700 and Taurus .40 and drive the 14 hrs to southern Arizona.

"Funny how these government officials' first response to this is to investigate the American citizens instead of thinking that maybe they need to deal with the problem of the illegals."

I've noticed this. Sort of like getting arrested for leaving your keys in your car instead of arresting the guy who stole it.

This makes about as much sense as the fire department arriving late for a house fire ... and having the police arrest the neighbor trying to contain the fire with his garden hose...

It seems to me these folks have the right to protect their land from crimminals. I don't see a problem here. If the state can't do it, someone has to.
I'm not from the area, but I can't imagine having all those illegals destroying my peace.
It seems as though the government is protecting the guilty and ignoring the cries of the innocent - again.
I'm with the militias on this one. Something has to be done. I wish them their safty and success.

"governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it"

Looks like these guys take that part seriously.

"They should insist that they be called one big neighborhood crime watch, the do gooders in liberal bastions like that term"

Problem with that is that they don't believe that illegals are committing any crime. There is just something about the term "illegal" that doesn't get processed in their feeble little psyches.

" I've watched this idiot for some time"

I have as well...not intentionally, mind you, but he is kinda hard to miss when he floats around like a little black cloud raining on whatever threads he feels his superior opinion is called for.

This effort is all about publicity, & correctly so. What Simcox is obviously trying to do is bring the issue to a head in front of the entire nation. The government will be in the spotlight & the country will be watching to see how they handle it.

Let's face it, this problem isn't going to be solved by a few ranchers in SUVs. A strong wave of public anti illegal alien sentiment is the only hope.

Good reply, thanks.

"A strong wave of public anti illegal alien sentiment is the only hope."

We already have that and its growing. The problem is that from the left it will be challenged as racist and from the administration we will get something along the lines of how good illegals are for our economy (sorta like how Islam is a peaceful religion) and all sides will encourage action against any who "target" illegals. That will be followed by some "protected" status legislation, and the people will be screwed....again.

These militia members are true patriots. They give me hope that there are still many good Americans who will defend this land and culture.

I love how in typical left-wing style, Rep. Grijalva just ignores the facts, and doesn't admit to the illegal immigration problem. And how the militia's need to be investigated, instead of addressing the real problem of open borders and the problems stemming from illegal immigration. Typical leftist hack....

True. The more I hear from Simcox, the better I feel about him and his efforts. I was especially impressed with his idea to use the government to do the background checks and screening process for his volunteer patrols (via the CCW background check). And his public announcement that he was going to patrol the very same public lands that the open borders groups have going on to place water stations and such on was classic.

The trouble is that a fear a certain scenario may come to pass. I've mentioned it here before. This guy can put a real wrench in Vincente Fox's gears. Fox must keep the flow of illegals moving northward for 3 reasons:

  1. It is a pressure valve that Mexico traditionally uses to prevent a long-delated revolution to overthrow the elites.
  2. Billions of dollars are sent back to Mexico from the illegals to their families they left behind. This money artificially keeps the Mexican economy afloat.
  3. As demonstrated by Fox's linkage of U.S. border policies to Mexico's vote on the U.N. Iraq resolution, Fox uses illegal immigration as a bludgeon to attempt to affect U.S. foreign policy.

Given these facts, and given the traditionally corrupt nature of the Mexican government, I fear that they may take action and use Simcox as their patsy. I foresee a situation where covert Mexican operatives will kill off a few of their "undesirables" in the Arizona desert and make it look like Simcox's bunch did it. Simcox would be gone, the immigration reform movement would be irrepairably damaged, and Fox would have his way. It would be ugly and it could happen.

I hope these guys have gooooood lawyers. It shouldn't be long before these guys come up against some drug runners or coyotes and the lead starts flying. We all know what will happen then, this militia will get ALOT of attention in the media. They will be demonized as right-wing nutcases who killed some poor, innocent "undocumented", who was only looking for a better life in America. Meanwhile, if one or two of the militia get capped themselves, it will be the "undocumented's" simply defending themselves against the right-wing wacko's.</liberal slant>

God Speed to these guys...their gonna need all the help they can get...
