Boycott & Protest Rainbow Grocery, San Francisco, CA
12/14/2002 | Mission Broadsider

Boycott & Protest Against Rainbow Grocery Cooperative, SF, CA. The date of the upcoming protest will be published shortly. For further information, contact: Ian Zimmerman, Esq. at: vinzim@pacbell.net or else The Jewish Community Relations Council at: info@jcrc.org telephone (415)957-1551

In spite of substantial community protest, Rainbow Grocery Cooperative is continuing to boycott Israeli products.

Rainbow Grocery is ONLY boycotting Israeli products. Rainbow continues to sell products from numerous countries including China that have a history of human rights violations.

Rainbow Grocery is claiming that there is NO boycott because only the Packaged Foods and Bulk Foods Departments within the Rainbow Grocery Cooperative are currently boycotting Israeli products. By the same logic, we should ignore the murder (by Hammas et al) of Jews in Israel because their have been no murders in the USA.

Boycott & Protest Against Rainbow Grocery Cooperative, SF, CA

Rainbow is selectively persecuting one nation, Israel. Rainbow is discriminatory and unfair. Rainbow is hurting innocent workers. Rainbow is double talking.

I don't think I've ever seen an Israeli product for sale. But why don't you shop somewhere else? That hurts Rainbow more than Rainbow hurts Israel.

At least supply the address: 1745 Folsom (SOMA/Inner Mission). I deliberately avoid shopping anywhere that calls itself a "cooperative".

This is aweful!! Anti-semetic or homophobic!!! What's a liberal to do?

I guess in San Francisco, the ultra-left wing loonies believe that the Israelis are persecuting the Palestinians, so most will take the former over the latter.

I used to live near SF, shopped at Rainbow sometimes - totally full of fags.... But it also is a good store as far as foods etc available. If I ever go to SF again I'll give it a miss!

Was it formerly in the Haight? If so, I applied for a job there a couple of decades ago. To determine if I was suitable for the job, the employees called the head of "The Family," who quizzed me on the number of letters in my name (no kidding).

Numerology was the deciding factor in determining my fitness for employment.

No offense, but I'm curious...how do you know they were "fags"? And why would you recall it? Why would you think others care to know it? The subject is, afterall, anti-Semitism.
Am fascinated & stunned by the number of folks herein who seem so preoccupied w/a sexuality they claim to abhor.

Yes, it is about anti-Semitism, but there is an interesting connection between homosexuality and anti-Semitism.... Many Nazi officers were homosexuals... the 'gay agenda" tactics planners originally used many Nazilike methods and even read Mein Kampf as a how-to text for inspiration..
And lastly, the "gay agenda" crowd want us to be "tolerant" of them, but they are the most intolerant of any group of people! Look at Canada's and the U.K.'s recent anti-"hate speech" laws. Homos can't tolerant anyone haven't a different viewpoint. Major censorship may be the outcome. Remind you of book burning?
Plus how can I tell? Have you ever lived in SF? Answer that first and then I'll tell you!

But, see, look, you have illustrated one aspect of why it is not really a good idea to make a political group of people based on their sexuality.

If people can opt in and opt out of the group at will, how are we supposed to know who is really "entitled" to the protections and privileges which are sought for the group?

I am reminded of two people I once heard discussing Michael Jackson, as they sat in an auto place and saw him come on TV. These people looked to me like they could have been brother and sister. The "sister" said, "Look at that queer!" The "brother" replied, "Now, look--how do YOU know he's a 'queer'? Do you peep in his windows?" The woman replied, "Well...come to think of it, how do I know YOU'RE a hetero?"

The woman's remark was rude, sure, in a public place. But I found the man's sanctimonious manner to be annoying, too. Entertainers WANT us to talk about them, it's how they make money.

And besides, everyone knows Michael probably is neither gay nor straight--he's allegedly into CHILDREN.

Also, it never ceases to amaze me how some homosexuals want us to notice them as a political voice, but then get all huffy when someone tries to simply use outward appearance to make a judgment about someone. We all use outward appearance to do this on a day-to-day basis, when dealing with strangers. To refuse to do so would be silly.
