Phish has a huge cult following. There are no doubt tens of thousands of people tuning in tonight JUST because Phish is on...

"I never thought I could enjoy watching Al do anything til tonight."

Most people are enjoyable to watch when they're doing whatever they do best. Al is at his best when making an ass of himself.

Aerosmith was in the Wayne's World skits as well as the musical guest, many years ago.

I’m thirty-eight or something, with two kids, so I have an excuse.

Ninety-five percent of Phish fans do not sit at home in front of a TV on a Saturday night.

That song kicked ass, btw.

It's Darrell Hammond, who is SNL's primo impressionist. He also does a killer Dick Cheney.

"That Matthews impersonation is really the best impersonation I've ever seen." I think it is the guy who does Bush on Leno. That guy is hilarious!

I think it's Darrell Hammond, a regular SNL cast member.

Paul Simon used to be in almost every skit when he was musical guest.

He was funny as hell.

Did Lorne Micheals buy Phish? I have never seen a band get so much attention in the skits, etc...

That's what they call synergy in the ad business. Al is a cold fish (someone here at FR called him Albagore the Robotic Tuna), and most of his core voters probably smell like dead fish. So it's only natural to include Phish in the skits, to reinforce the symbolism.

C'mon, you can't be too old to remember Paul Simon. The guy used to sing with Mozart for godsakes.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I know who Darrell Hammond is. What I meant was that I think the guy that does Bush on Leno is the best. Hammond is good, but I like the other guy better.

This from the NBC Web Site:

Something "phishy" is going on! Former Vice President Al
Gore (he's funny, we swear!) hosts and welcomes
musical guests, Phish on an all-new SNL!

I meant that it seems strange for us to compare the three. Of course I remember Paul Simon, didn't he write plays?... ;)

As usual, the DU psychos completely overexagerate Gore's funnyness, saying he is a better actor than Reagan. Plus, they see the West Wing skit as beautful, rather than the deranged feelings of a loser who can't let go.
