December 17, 2002 -- Religious tensions erupted yesterday after authorities confirmed that an Arab girl beat up a Jewish girl at a Brooklyn middle school.

The Arab teen was arrested and suspended for the Dec. 12 attack on the 13-year-old Jewish girl, an honors student, at IS 259 in Dycker Heights, sources said.

Umm. The assailant being Arab DOES have a bearing on this. The Assailant was an arab who taunted the victim about her ethnicity for weeks.
Now, under the hate crimes laws, that's a hate crime. Taunting someone about their ethnicity is a hate crime.
And if pointing that out is a problem, then what of it?

No, the issue here is that the perpetrator was of one race and the victim was of another, which as you say, makes it a hate crime. However, if the race of victim and perpetrator were reversed, I can guarantee this story would never have been posted on FR.

Like most humans who believe their freedoms are being violated, they are likely to take up arms against those who they see as the oppressor. In this case it is the rock throwing Palestinian seeing the Jew (or more accurately the Zionist) as the oppressor. Since they have no access to guns, they use rocks. It is exactly what freedom loving Americans have been taught too, except we have guns (for now). So, they do think like us.
