Getting older means having a front row seat at the 'Special Olympics' that is the human condition, doesn't it? Even though I'm not quite qualified for that front-row seat just yet, I've still got a great perch from which I get to see those dweebs.

Thanks for the reminders. I'd forgotten some of those "gems" from the past.

That would be over on the "aptly-named" History Channel (during their "asheap of history" hour). Nothing screams "BOGUS!" like Nimoy (especially in his bearded days) spouting off on the lieberal agenda of the day.

We won't need the ChiCom operated Panama Canal any more! In that case, let's hold a perpetual barbecue.

From detailed measurements of the rate of melting, the Met Office's Hadley Centre for monitoring climate change predicts the ice-cap will disappear around September 2079. Wonder if they know if it will be sunny in New England between the 15th and the 22nd. I'd really like to firm up some plans.

Considering that glaciers used to come as far south as Kansas, global warming in the last 10,000 years has been overall a
good thing.

Uhmmm. Water vapor, which is by far the most prevalent of the "greenhouse gases," is released in copious quantities from the nuclear power plants that have cooling towers.
On a clear day, Three Mile Island, near Harrisburg, PA, releases a cloud of water vapor that can be seen from the air as soon as the plane takes off from New York City.
This water is locally drawn and used to cool the hot pipes within the towers; the steam you see is the same water being returned to the air. Water vapor produced by burning hydrocarbons is actually created from the stored hydrogen of those hydrocarbons and the respirated oxygen of plantlife far and near - still a net zero for total water in the atmosphere.

Yes, but what about the series matter of all those pesky volcanos that at a whim pump out more polutants than the early industrial period?

Steam from cooling towers? And just how much water vapor from cooling towers is introduced into the earth's atmosphere as as percentage of the total water vapor in the atmosphere as compared to the amount introduced from the evaporation of ocean water? Is it 0.00000000000000000001%? You must have a number since you brought it up.

These clowns can't acurately predict tomorrow's or next week's weather. But give that no mind.

No problem, it's done this before.

I must warn you about a serious breach of scientific etiquette here, Sentis.
It is most impolite to drag facts into a political argument with left-wing science guys. Got it? Global Warming is real and it is dangerous. Al Gore says so. It is therefore true and we must adjust all our policies to accomodate this new knowledge.
Take your facts and get out of this town.

Scotch. That is one of the most common baits. Many ice fishermen carry it.

"...only a few icebergs would be left..."
Hmmm, seems RMS Titanic sailed about 170 years too soon.

I remember reading not too long after the "the ice caps are melting" scare that there actually was no polar thinning and that the "researchers" had been using bogus data. But even if it were true, yippee! A totally clear shipping route across the north pole? Fantastic boon.

The loss of the ice cap will open up the Northwest Passage and enable ships to save thousands of kilometres on journeys between Europe and the Far East.Cool! Imagine the great cruises people will be able to take....

Actually alot of scientists in this country and around the world are waking up to this pseudoscientific nonsense. It doesnt get the air time in the media like the global warming freaks but many many scientists deplore this type of fear mongering. I have seen anti global warming petitions signed by thousands of meteorologists and climatologists but this never gets discussed. I even have a meteorologist friend that laughs everytime he hears the word global warming but he wouldnt do it at work for fear of his job.
