Some questions that need to be answered.
myself | today | Stavka2

Posted on 12/25/2002 12:05:09 AM PST by Stavka2

I don't write vanities, not normally not ever, but there's a first for everything. Here's a list of questions I want answered and most Americans should too.

  1. Why hasn't the upcoming Iraqi war been publically debated?
  2. Why hasn't Congress done it's job on the war?
  3. What are the actual costs going to be to the taxpayers of this war, and I don't been some ball park figures but detailed cost estimates? Best/worst case scenarios?
  4. Where is the money coming from?
  5. How much largeness will the US oil companies and defense industries receive from this war?
  6. What happens if the Iraqi oil fields are destroyed and what will be the cost of reopenning them?
  7. What will be the cost of rebuilding Iraq and what is/if there is the plan for this?
  8. What exact form of government will replace Iraqi Saddam/Batha rule?
  9. Why is the US negotiating with Iranian mullahs for the government, members of the very organization it opposes in Iran?
  10. Why is the US negotiating with exiled Iraqi generals who have human rights records worse then Saddam, to include "The Chemist"?
  11. What happens if Kurdistan declares independence...will this be supported?
  12. What happens if Turkey invades Kurdistan and begins a whole sale slaughter?
  13. What happens if Iran invades southern Iraq?
  14. Since Saddam is such a mad dog and has had chemical weapons for over twenty years, why hasn't he launched them on Israel?
  15. How will taking out Saddam, a socialist, make the US safer from Islamic terrorists financed by Saudi Arabia and various other emerites?
  16. Why have the Saudies been allowed to amass WMD and over 100 missiles?
  17. What is the end state in Afghanistan?
  18. What happens if Taliban launches offensives during Iraqi war? Where will reinforcements come from since all three participating divisions will also be in Iraq?
  19. How much is the US willing to spend to rebuild Afghanistan?
  20. What happens if Pakistan goes rouge and has nukes?
  21. Why have oil prices been allowed to climb up to the highest point in 2 years and retail had its worst season in 30 years.
  22. Why are foreign software engineers still being hired and imported at autrocious rates while domestic workers sit in unemployement?
  23. Why are Mexicans still being supported as illegals in the US?
  24. Why is the federal government still pushing for billingual services to these illegals?
  25. Why was NATO enlargement not even debated seriously, when this causes the US to willingly go to nuclear war for countries such as Romania. When this will cost the tax payer twice as much as last time, to the tune of $65 billion dollars, to subsidize the US military industry in selling systems to poor countries.
  26. Why are US troops still in the Balkins and the US is still backing the KLA?
  27. Why is the US still giving money to Arafat?
  28. Why is the US still spending globs of money, around $10 billion/year, defending Saudi Arabia when it refuses to cooperate with the US?
  29. Why are anti Chavez, pro democracy demonstrators not receiving any help?
  30. Why is the Zimbabwean anti Communist opposition not receiving any help?
  31. Why did the Rumsfield inquiry into waste, fraud and abuse in the US military and National Guard come to such a sudden halt?
  32. Why is air safety in US airports just as much of a joke still as it was before?

Just a few questions that no one is seeming to ask since it's a Republican run show and not democRats.

"American imperialism to support economic excesses in out own country"

Oops. I left this one out. How rich.

"Economic excesses?" Who decides? I presume you are referring, e.g., to SUVs. Shall we put Richard W. in charge of what kind of vehicles people get to drive?

If Bill Gates can afford the upkeep on a Gigantor SUV, including the gas bill, what business is it of yours?

One man's economic excess is another man's reasonable standard of living. Our "economic excesses" seem to be what everybody else in the world wants.

"Economic excesses" are code words for radical egalitarianism--the philosophy which seeks to make everyone equal by making everyone equally poor.

I invite you to cease your own economic excess. Give all you own to the poor, and wander as a mendicant seeking alms. Live the lifestyle of Mother Teresa, or Heinrich Sosa. Then you might have the moral authority to remark on "economic excesses" from your $1500 Gateway computer, running on electricity generated from fossil fuels, having just completed Christmas dinner running to 3500 calories.

It saddens me that whenever certain questions are asked there are some Freepers who immediate swarm to attack the person who put forward the question (the post).

Instead of answering the question (or focussing on the question) they instead decide to chastize the poster! I think that is one of the few problems with FR ....the asinine habit of attacking the messenger instead of tackling the question! I personally think it is a mark of atrophied mental acumen when someone blindly uses vitriolic diatribe against a fellow Freeper instead of answering the question posed (if the question is indeed foolish then say it is foolish ...and say why ....but there are many Freepers who will simply call someone a 'name', eg 'anti-semite' etc, and leave it at that). That is foolish because no good arises out of that.

As for the questions you asked (Stavka) what i can say is that there are a couple there that more people need to be thinking about (and asking their representatives about). For example the concentration on Iraq when greater threats are posed by places like N.Korea and Pakistan (the British govt affirms that Pakistan is the greatest threat of magnitude currently) .....or why the Saudis seem to be under some aegis from US wrath when the deserve it more than virtually any other country (actually the answer for that one is simple ...and it is oil). Also the question about what happens in Iraq after the madman Saddam is deposed is crucial. Currently there is no one who can viably fill his shoes, and that is an urgent question that needs to be tackled and soon otherwise a maelstrom of usurpers and coups would ensue (especially if the 'Iraqi political exiles' or the Kurdish party is emplaced as ruler .....the Iraqi exiles would not accepted by the people due to some past issues, and the Kurds would raise potential issues with Turkish policies).

And yes, airport security is a joke (4 months ago in a flight from Orlando to Houston i had my Fortune Magazine x-rayed ....yep, x-rayed, yet they let my carry-on bag go through! Maybe my view of weapons is wrong ....but i believe it is much easier to slip a weapon in a bag than in a business magazine! Or maybe i am just wrong, but i seriously doubt it).

Anyways Stavka, some of the questions you asked were very pressing and require a deep delving into ....and all of them deserved critical thought. None should have elicited an attack (especially silly ones like: Who did Stavka2 vote for, in 2000 and 2002 US federal elections?)

Even if you had voted for Gore in 2000 and had a shrine of Nancy Pelosi in your den that you chanted nightly mantras to does not mean your questions are any less potent! (On second thought a shrine to Pelosi would be too much .....LOL)

Anyways i always believe if a post is rubbish then it should be treated as such ....and intelligent proof given as to why it is rubbish! However attacking a poster (eg calling him a DU plant, and questioning his voting record) should be left to the sand-pits of kindergarten where they belong.

And as to those who say there is no need to answer such questions because 'their elected representatives were elected to do so for them' all i have to say that is one big slippery slope. Eg the 'Patriot Act' was voted on by nigh everypolitician before they had even read a page (whether it is good/effective or not is a different question, but they should at the very least know what they are signing into law since intelligent, not purely emotional, responses should be the article of faith in any elected official)

"Sometimes there is no way out of a dilemma, other than to face it, head on. The nature (and fanaticism) of our enemies is such, that we must aggresively confront and defeat them. Will this be messy? Of course. But what is the alternative?"

IMHO, America's politicians and intelligence agencies have been playing patty cakes with the likes of the Bin Ladens and Husseins for long enough...Hell, Dubya made his first million working with the Bin Laden family and Daddy Bush was business parters with Saddam...

If you ask me, the present administration is not qualified to fight this war because of conflicts of interest...and the previous administration was of course to imcompetent and degenerate.

If "We the People" are REALLY serious about fighting a war on terror, we should get our own damn house in order first!

Deport all unnecessary aliens, lock down the borders, start watching all questionable Islamics and kick the crap out of the white-collar criminals ripping off America and bringing the economy to its knees. Focus on bringing up the standard for the requirements of American citizenship and require ALL Americans to participate.

Isn't about time "We the People" start running our own government again and take it back from the crafty careerist in either of the corrupt parties who have monopolized and degenerated the political institutions in this country?

Washington volunteered to serve his country and in no way gained economically…shouldn’t that be the role model for the American patriot?

Or would you rather have lawyers running our Government creating zillions of new laws each year, all the time sticking it the middle class while paving the way for their special interest sponsors to continue to shear the sheeple?

"Nice try. I'm not flustered. There are no seals on my eyes. So, given your failure to pigeon hole me "politically," what's your next best shot? HINT: I'm not partial to terrorism of any stripe."

If you don't fit the mold, of course the unwashed masses are going to attempt to brand you in what they perceive as the opposing party...the democraps would do the same, labeling you some kind of right-wing extremist...

American imperialism to support economic excesses in out own country will not be tolerated by the world community. It is the one sure way to assure more terrorism.

This view is terrible. It is often used by liberals. It puts the blame for terrorism on our shoulders. It apologizes to terrorists for our national policy. It says that our actions have brought about terrorism and any continued action on our part which makes anybody mad is going to create more terror. There is no solution if you really feel this way.

It saddens me....

Save your sadness. The question were confrontational when they should have been thought provoking; some were based on false assumptions; and any reasonable questions were lost in the clutter.

The 1st question goes downhill from the getgo since the war is being debated 24/7 across the country and across the world. And question #2 destroys the posters credibility since Congress voted to give the Commander-in-Chief the authority that he is exercizing.

Question #6 is a redux of Gulf War I where we had to fix the burning oil wells and can do so again, if necessary. We can also operate the repaired oil wells to pay for our efforts, if necessary.

I think that Stavka2 should research the answers and report back to us ASAP.

Yes.. Yes. this is the same guy that first said 'we couldn't nuke Russia after WW2' cause we lacked the warheads, then said we couldn't do it cause we lacked the delivery means. Both totally false of course.

Ooohhh boy. DU DU DU

Thanks, it is so infuriating when no one wants to talk about it and all they can do is ad honum attacks on those who raise the questions...the same thing they accuse the democRats of doing. To bad they don't see themselves in the light others see them. You are so right and it's so simple and as with all simple things it's usually the most overlooked.

I have to go to Christmas dinner so I won't have time to debate, but since when does congress make laws? Our laws are made by the courts and the bureaucrats with no public debate whatsoever.

Sick isn't it? Oh, you missed one: Executive Decree....er Order, again, what's the difference?

Really, you simply need to improve your questions. I am perfectly willing to talk about anything in a intelligent debate, but many (most) of your questions are vague, some require a fortune teller, and some don't really even seem to apply. "Where is the money coming from?" You really want to know? From us. Did you think the U.S. was going to go rob a Luxembourgish bank? Anytime the government spends money, it comes from us. Think about the questions and re-post.

Rabbit.

Stavka, you were incorrect about the USA being able to nuke the USSR in 1946-1950.. What's your deal? Seriously. You speak of a pittish/scott ritter tone... Which is painful to anyone that knows of any reality.

Which job? Oh, declaring war. Well, probably because the President never asked them to declare war.

Well, that's the jist of it then, isn't it, because it is the duty of the President to go before Congress and ask for a declaration of war before fighting starts...that's the Constitution and the only legal way to abridge that is through an amendment, the War Powers Act is as illegal as anything else that changes the Constitution without a voted on Amendement. Problem is, no one sees past this moment...when your party man is in charge everyone is happy to have the abuse of power, but when the other party's man (or wombat, in case of Hellberry) is in charge everyone is lamenting, nashing and grinding teeth about how we got to this point and how unconstitutional it is. Be warned, you face a very real threat of this happening either next elections or the following.

Problem is, we aren't attacking the Islamists, that's the point. The Islamists are in Saudi Arabia, amongst other nations, on whom we spend billions for protection and ass kissing...yes our body politic's lips are firmly stitched to every unwashed Saudi Royal's arse. How does it feel to know that you are nothing but a "white N**er" (Saudi words, not mine) to an unwashed, half educated camel jocky?

The US has been in a Recession for 3 years, with market losses this year alone of 16% in Dow Jones and 30% in Nasdeq. We are running a huge deficit, projected to be over half a trillion dollars, add to this an unneeded war that does nothing to save us from terrorists, and a Marshal Plan (maybe, since no one will actually state the end game). If you wish for me to explain to you what effect a huge deficit has on the economy and all our future aspects for recovery, I will gladly do so.

Who cares? That is a problem for Iraq--not us.

I care, since it is my money in part going to this. And if you believe otherwise that some corps are going to invest, you are fooling yourself. The corps will be there, all right, to suck up US government funds for rebuilding, but it will still be the taxpayer who gets stuffed with the bill.

English? Last time I check it was in English, aber wenn wanst du in Deutsch, ist es auch gut.

Sitation, hell, most of the major news media covering the London meeting of the Iraqi opposition, sponsored by DC.

Kurdistan...hmm, well, obviously you don't understand Geopolitics do you? Kurdistan is mostly run by the very people who like Osama. Furthermore, check the map, if fighting starts there, that cuts off one of the two main supply routes to US forces, not a good thing.

If Iran invades southern Iraq, it cuts off the other major US supply route and puts pressure on Kuwait and Saudi oil fields, again, back to step one. Do you get it now?

He is deterred by the thought of Israeli retaliation.

Well, in one statement, you have just blown the reason for the whole war. If he is afraid of what the Isrealies would do to him with 200 nukes, why would he not be afraid of what the US could do to him with 10,000 nukes? Or do the lines of logic get fuzzy right around that point? As for "giving" away a nuke to terrorists, that would be quite stupid since the isotopes left from a blast can be traced back to their plants of origen, each leaves a finger print, a very distinct finger print.

In case you missed it, friend, there is no more Taliban.

In case YOU missed it friend, the none existent Taliban killed one american soldier last week, and injured 4 others. Not bad for ghosts.

Listen, bunky; nobody goes 'willingly to nuclear war' for a rotten pest-hole like Romania.

Really, space ranger? Go check what the US signed in the NATO accords, because it will do this for even smaller pest holes like Liuthiania and Estonia and Latvia. Or did you miss that whole NATO agreement, which has been around for 52 years?

Why should we help every Jose, Jorge, and Tomaso who calls himself 'pro-democracy' and arrives with his hand out?

Because those Joses hold the spicket to 16% of the US oil, and that is a very good reason to support anti-Communist rebellions, especially when they threaten to nationalize the enterprises and cut off the US.

As for your ask Klinton answers, sorry, he's been gone for 2 years and he was a lame duck for over a year before that. Time to ask Bush.

Post WW2 the US didn't have nukes, it's two were dropped on Japan. I will admit that I was incorrect as to the fact that there were 50 bombs 5 years later. But, you were out of your mind if you think bomber could have made it to Moscow from Germany...not to mention the distance: 1,600 km, or 1,000 miles, Berlin to Moscow, through the Red Airforce and layered Air Defense systems. Funny, the Luftwaffe couldn't make it but your mystery planes surely could.

But I'm sure that my mistake on the nukes just throws all those questions right out the window...after all why answer when you can attack the barer. Personally, I think you are the DU, you see, you want all this power for Bush now, so that when your favorite, Hillery takes over you DUs can do what ever you want, so here's back at you DU! DU! DU!
