Lear Hypocrisy - he drives an SUV!
Plain Talk's ears - Birmingham Dixon radio interview with Lear on 1/9/03

Richard Dixon, local Birmingham talk radio show host, interviewed Norman Lear last night. As has been reported, Mr. Lear contributed to an advertising campaign denouncing SUVs. It was also reported he had built a huge 21 car garage etc. Well it turns out it's even worse than that. Last night Mr. Lear said he was, in fact, driving an SUV. He said he planned to get rid of it in two months or so. When Dixon asked him about this obvious hypocrisy his reply was astounding. He said "I didn't come on this program declaring that I was consistent, did I?" and kind of made light of it.

Being a liberal means never having to say you're sorry. It only requires oatmeal for brains.

Trying to shame liberals into acting sensibly is bound to fail because they have no shame.

Arianna Huffington, Lears partner in crime on this was on Hannity 2 days ago. He asked her about her flying on Private Jets, which use massive amounts of fuel, and she replied "They were flying somewhere anyway".
Well, feeling that she had made a fool of herself on Hannity, she called WABC at 6 AM (3AM her time!) to try and get on Curtis & Kuby to take another crack at it. They too asked her about the Private Planes she flys on. Her response this time, (paraphrase) 'I'm loosing frequent flier miles doing that so its a trade off.'
What an idiot!

Also reminds me of the time that Daschle and Gephardt held some press conference regarding SUVs and how horrible they are. They arrived at the press conference in a Chevy Suburban!

Tony Danza was on KRBE 104 radio this morning in Houston. The DJs were asking him if he drove a Hummer, saying that they could picture him in one.
He went on to say that he couldn't drive a Hummer because we each have personal responsibility to give back to the environment, etc., etc.
Of course, the fact (pointed out by one of the DJs after Tony hung up) that his 1967 and 1960 Corvettes and 1960s Porche put out far more pollution than a 2003 Hummer would doesn't enter into his mind at all.

What? What? What on EARTH did she mean?
I didn't come on this program declaring that I was consistent, did I?"
Un-damn-believeable.

I guess the old LaSalle didn't run great any longer.

When he "gets rid of" his SUV I'm pretty sure he'll sell it to someone. If he wanted to be responsible (and if SUV's were really bad) he would have it destroyed so nobody would be driving it. After all, he could afford to do that.

And isn't that the truth! They have one standard for the common folk and one for themselves. Ironic, isn't it?

What a waste of bandwidth. Freedom of speech at its best.

Little Miss Green Acres has also been caught in a good bit of hypocrisy on this. How much energy does it take to heat her 11,000 square foot home, and how much to fly those private jets she has traveled in?

'I'm loosing frequent flier miles doing that so its a trade off.'
What? You can't compare flying a private jet and frequent flier miles. Absurd. Or flying private and commercial at all. I've flown both and the jet fuel by itself ain't cheap.

ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL
BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS
"Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

a leaded additive might work, too
