Why should Mel care what Hollywood thinks? Mainstream America flocks to his movies, he can laugh all the way to the bank.

You've got a great list; but you left out "We Were Soldiers", about that Vietnam battle.

I read something on this new movie. I read that they considered making the crucifixion scene as graphic as the actual crucifixion was. Then for some reason, they decided to tone it down a bit, especially that scene.

I think it had something to do with distracting from what was happening, and what he (Christ) was going through all of it for. They felt that it wouldn't do him justice, or something.

I was watching the archeological and forensic NOVA program on PBS about searching for remains of crashed American Serviceman on the Kamchatka Pennisula from WWII.

I missed that one, doggonit. I did catch the NOVA that came on right after, about the Lancaster airliner that crashed into a glacier in the Andes. The whereabouts of the plane were a big mystery at the time (1947). Mountain climbers found parts of the wreckage a few years ago, and a team was sent up the mountain to find the rest.

That WAS interesting stuff - seems the pieces of the wreckage will continue to be exposed as the glacier moves down the mountain. A great story - mystery disappearance, cryptic last message, the works.

Thanks for the pics. What a very sweet face. I used to love a man who looked very much like that. It's nice to have a reminder that men can look so good and still be filled with a heart for Christ.

"We all need to be lifting him up in prayer."

Think I will pray the following on his behalf until this thing is over and past.

Psalms Chapter 140

1 [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
2 Which imagine mischiefs in [their] heart; continually are they gathered together [for] war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison [is] under their lips. Selah.
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; [lest] they exalt themselves. Selah.
9 [As for] the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
..................
In essence it asks the Lord to deliver Gibson from the devices of the wicked and to ensnare and bring down on them what their own words and intent would place on him.

That interview was impressive. I'd call that a "man of significance". I doubt that I can think of more than 5 living men to whom I would give that tribute.

Won't be subtitled. Mel says the images will transend any verbal barriers.

In other words, it will be an authenitic tragidrama depicting Christ's crucifixion with the requisite inclusion of "a little shot of me bum for the ladies."

What a man (swoooooon). God keep he and his family safe. Personally, I don't think they can lay a glove on him.

Mel Gibson under attack for Jesus film?
Actor-director believes enemies are trying to discredit him

Actor-director Mel Gibson said tonight he's under attack for making a realistic movie about the suffering, sacrificial death of Jesus.

On Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor," Gibson said a reporter was dispatched by a "reputable" but unnamed publication to "dig up dirt" on him.

"Whenever you take up a subject like this it does bring out a lot of enemies," he said. His private life, his banking records, charities he supports, friends, business associates and family members have all undergone scrutiny in this investigation, he said.

Asked if he believed there was a direct correlation between this investigation and his work on "The Passion," a film he is making in Aramaic and Latin for authenticity, Gibson said: "I think there is."

"I'm a big boy," said Gibson. "I can take care of myself, but when you start messing around with my 85-year-old father, watch out."

Even though Gibson was angry about what he considers harassment of his friends and family and prying into his personal life, he said he has already forgiven the reporter and those behind him.

"This is a movie about love, faith, hope and forgiveness," Gibson said. "He died for all mankind. He (Jesus) suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts. We could all use a little more love, faith, hope and forgiveness."

Was just reading an old post here about him that I never saw, and was very impressed that his only daughter (of 7 children) has decided to become a nun. Wow!

I agree with that! We need to make sure this movie is a success. Maybe to the point that we should all buy a copy to make sure hollywood gets the message.....

If you haven't seen it, I recommend "The Year of Living Dangerously." Very adult-romantic against the background of Suharto's Indonesia. Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver, so visual pleasure for everyone. And the music is captivating!
