I live in central Oregon and due to state budget shortfalls, the schools receive less so the kids who want to play school sports have to pay $100 for each sport they play....
To: Cool Guy
What is this supposed to mean? The people are overcharged for the services the govt provides? No, it means that the people are overcharged for the services that government DOES NOT provide. Consider the government schools, your local DMV, trying to get a stinking building permit, etc. Government does not solve problems, EVER.

geeez this legalized babysitting thing is getting out of hand with all these "paper shufflers" ...making the big bucks. I bet none of those administrators has ever worked as hard in one day as a kid going out for football, throwing up his guts in summer practice, and yet they have to pay.......Well I am glad to hear they do have a surplus because I have the "goods" on their geology dept (DOGAMI) since they decided to obstruct justice by not doing their job and allowing the FEDS (BLM) to illegally destroy my mining business with both entities committing mail fraud and all other types of Mafia crimes.....oh yes we need more government like we need a headache !!!my site concerning my mining

Good gracious! That's for just the administrators? I'm stunned! But, it explains why we have about 1 administrator for every 3 teachers. (This is a factoid I heard a number of years ago. If it's wrong, feel free to correct me.)
Hubby's in business and knows more about budgets than anyone has a right to know. I'm going to email this to him. I can't wait to see his reaction!
BTW, do you know off the top of your head what the annual state budget is? If it was in the article, I missed it. I've been trying to remember, but no luck so far.

BTW, did you hear that the Kitzhabers have announced their divorce?
Mighty strange that they married just before he took office, and are divorcing just after leaving office.
I wonder if this could have anything to do with his decision not to run for the Senate?
One more thing, they are vacationing...together...in Hawaii.
Strange.

To: dixiechick2000
Shocked! Shocked! Did you like the 5pm Friday end of the day before vacation announcement? It explains why the man was so angry his last two years. Can we say the announcement was political?
To: Andy from Beaverton
Yeah, couple the end of the day on Friday announcement, and the fact that he and his "family" are out of the state...reminds me of something Clinton would do. I wouldn't vacation with my soon-to-be ex-husband.
This announcement was political in the extreme.
The whole thing is strange. The timing on his marriage and divorce, to me, is very suspect. Did he feel the need to take a wife for political reasons? Is this why he didn't run for the Senate? But, getting a divorce shouldn't have hurt him in Oregon. Arkansas, maybe...but not Oregon.
There is more to this than we know.

I've heard a guy call Lars more than once talking about the CAFR, I really haven't heard Lars get all that excited about this CAFR deal. I don't know whether it's a non-issue, governmental accounting tricks, or whatever. It seems to me that if it was a real smoking gun that the media would have been all over it by now.

To: Tailback
From the replies I've seen, Lars and others know about it but think that "we" are in on it. As if there is no one behind the "curtain".
I don't know, but I feel a bit of a shafting coming on......

Cool. I'm going to contact all the reps that were on the "no" side of measure 28...they're listed in the voter's pamphlet.
