Yeah,
I cant go EVERYDAY to make my presense known at the Freep Protest, but I can go SOME DAYS.
I cant give every penny to the Freep, but I can give ten bucks.
I cant shout down a whole crowd of anti-war bigots, but I can in a clear and ringing voice make my points to the people within voiceshot.
I cant do everything, but certainly I can do something.
You wrote letters, that is something... write more letters. Flood the offices of your representatives and senators with the letters of you, your friends and your church. Bring preprinted letters and give them out with self addressed stamped envelopes.
Do what you can because you believe in what your doing, not necessarily because you percieve it will accomplish anything. After all, what did rosa parks think she was going to accomplish by sitting down in the front of the bus and getting arrested?

You've made a good point -- perhaps I was just discouraged after watching that horrible "rally" yesterday -- the people there don't even realize the irony of their protest -- if they had done such a thing in Iraq, they'd all be in jail and the leaders/speakers would be dead -- but here in the "horrible" USA -- they have the freedom to gather and protest and spout their hate, to yell "Free Mumia" or "Allah Akbar", to hold up signs that call our President a Nazi and think that we should drop butterflies on Saddam (oh--I'm SURE that would work) And the reason they have the freedom is the fighting men and women who they are hurting by a rally like that one yesterday -- what's next? are we going to see them spitting on guys/gals in uniform ?
I do write letters and send e-mails, and I do contribute to Free Republic and to other conservative causes and I pray for our leaders and for this country -- maybe someday I will be brave enough to actually go out and hold a sign ?? If Hillary decides to "save us all" by running for President -- that might just do it :)

Side note.
I'm watching Mosaic on Worldlink TV. The Syrian and "Palestinian" feeds did stories on the protests. Not surprising, the problem is about 80% of the video shown was of the FReepers/counter-demonstrator contingent. Classic. Friggin' morons. (what's with all the deleted posts? someone get too lippy?)

"Tyne Daley??? Are you friggin' kidding me? That'll add the needed credibilty to this... Is that Cagney or Lacey?"
I read in a knitting magazine that Tyne Daley's grandmother used to work for the CIA.
No. I am not kidding. She said that her grandmother worked for the CIA and that when she was ten years old her grandmother invited her to Washington DC, took her to the opera and taught her to knit.

IF I were a FR leader (which I'm not, but I do have some organizational and marketing experience), I would:
1. Get a list of the orgs;
2. Email them and establish a contact for each;
3. Get on THEIR email lists so we can help with their activities if needed/wanted;
4. Start a FR "Signs/Songs/Slogans" topic or subsite;
5. Get input from other Freepers as to what will be the Talking Points of the Other Side for the upcoming protest;
6. Work out our Counter-Points and set up subsite;
7. Communicate the Counter-Points and Signs/Slogans/Songs to the College contacts;
8. Encourage them to join FR to get ideas and information and maybe even start their own sub-site (like the Foxhole, Canteen, etc.) -- Freeper U? Something like that...
You'll note that this is a two-part strategy: (1) create subsites that would be useful to anyone organizing a counter-protest; and (2) outreach to College Republican groups. They can be done simultaneously but I think we'll have more to offer them once the subsites are set up.
These are 'set-up' type things to do on FR that I do not know how to do, nor do I know who one would go to (other than Jim R) to get permission to do so. I think the Counter-Points and Signs/Slogans/Songs should be 'best-of' subsites, since some folks will just pop off with "F Saddam" type stuff (not effective nor telegenic!).
I'm hoping that someone who DOES have the knowhow about the above will see this and agree that it's a good idea! I would be glad to sift through responses and organize the best ones so that they'll be easy to find -- hopefully in time for upcoming protests.
Thanks for your encouragement. Let's see if we can make something start to happen! -Jerez

You are wrong. You ARE just as much a FR leader, as anyone is - infact, my's hat is off to you. I would love to see a thread on this very subject - a brainstorming session, for positive ideas.
It's a big leap from sitting at the keyboard critiqing others - to constructivly setting out to do the 'work'.
There must be a hundred different goals, within the minds of Freepers/Lurkers and zillon ideas on how to reach those goals.
