I think we are going to be needing this thread.
The rally was good for a lot of one-liners, jokes and venting on this thread. To me, the rally was chilling and frightening. No matter in what numbers they turn out, the traitors DO turn out. No matter their numbers, they can create havoc in our cities if push comes to shove in Iraq. No matter their numbers, they DO have influence among the uneducated, the weak, the feeble sheeple, each of whom has a vote in the next election.
Today, we have courageous freepers in DC braving the cold and the enemy. But only a relative handful in terms of proportion to FR membership.
FRN, the activism arm of FR (and the ONLY organized conservative activism group in the country) is working mightily on another thread to promote a cruise with activism workshops. We have registrations, but nowhere near what it could or should be.
It was like pulling teeth to get more than a handful of folks here to register for FRN's national conference this past summer where the best activism training course in the country was held for freeper attendees.
Who knows how many of us are going to CPAC where the best and most notable conservative minds in the country will speak, and where representatives all national conservative organizations such as ours work together to coordinate activism? Probably just another handful in proportion to FR membership.
What does it take to motivate us to get out "in the cold"? Dedicated FR and FRN leaders work their fannies off to give us the opportunities to get together to design activism plans in support of our president, our troops, our country, but only a relative few respond. There are always heartfelt excuses for not showing up, and they're probably all legitimate, but where are the sacrifices and priorities that the commies and traitors appear to be able to muster up to get off their duffs?
The FReepathon should have been over in a week if most folks pledged only $5 a person. Yet it lingers on.
Dedicated Chapter leaders also work their butts off to plan meetings, picnics, barbques and street freeps, but generally, only a comparative few show up. For how long can these events be planned if only a few give a hoot, caring only to punch out on this forum scores of comments excoriating the leftist filth while never leaving their keyboards.
We know many, if not most, of the marxist traitorous creeps we saw today on TV have few of the responsibilities we conservatives have. They're young, probably have little in their lives to concern themselves about except their goals. But there are many others who have jobs, families and responsibilities who STILL sacrifice for their evil ideals and they turn out, also. Is their motivation more dynamic to them as ours is to us? I think not, but their motivations certainly spark them to whatever sacrifices they have to endure to get their message out.
We utter words of disappointment and anger at the left, the thugs and traitors at the rally today, the media, the radical campuses, the marxist politicians, the liberal churches and so forth, yet these dangerous people are always working, working, working, while too many conservatives fulminate in easy-chairs at their computers.
Perhaps it's time we look inward and assess our personal committment to liberty and the future safety of our families.
There are so many talented and motivated FR and FRN individuals and groups posting every day about their activism events, literally begging for physical support as well as words support.
The left virtually ORDERS its activists to turn out for rallys and events. They respond. This is not our modus operandi, and it should never be. To get conservatives to respond, we use mild exhortations, inspirational words, contests, prizes, poems, funny graphics and cautious pleas to motivate participation, often to no avail.
What, therefore, does it take to inspire and motivate conservatives to support and participate in at least one or two of the events and freeps offered by many our own inspired freepers? Is endless chat our main purpose here in these times that try mens' souls? Perhaps someone reading this has the answer.
Forgive me for my rant, but today's event was another obvious real and present danger to this country as well as disgusting and off-putting. I'm sure it was likewise to those of you who viewed it. But what good does it do to turn the dial or refuse to watch these fascist rallies, but never do anything further?
These traitors and fifth-columnists hardly rest behind their computers. Is this what too many of us are doing?
I beg each of you to get involved in a least one of the activism events and programs offered on many of our threads and put your hearts (and our country's future) into it. Perhaps some of you could expound further with positive comments of your own. Thanks for listening.

"Activist and Holocaust survivor Eva Cutler, 77, of Pembroke Pines, waits for the bus that will take her and other anti-war activists to a rally in Washington D.C. Saturday . The South Florida group could be as large as 90. Cutler spent four months in a German camp.

Let me tell you a bit about me, and probably of thousands of FReeper/lurkers.
We're the most feared creatures God placed on this liberal infested planet.
Their faces pale in panic, the beast's curdeled hearts skip 12 beats in a row when we speak the word "Trustworthy."
Liberals cower in fear as they witness our morally straight lifstyles.
We're Scouters.
And a report of a simultaneous protest by this fellow's fellow travelers:
More than 3,000 Palestinians marched in support of Saddam Hussein in Gaza City, filling the narrow streets with fluttering Iraqi flags and pictures of the Iraqi leader. Some chanted, "Our beloved Saddam, strike Tel Aviv," reviving a slogan from the 1991 Gulf War. (http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20030118_685.html)
The comments of the speakers at the Washington rally regarding "what has Saddam ever done to us" echo a certain quote from long ago that Czechoslovakia was not one of the great issues which justified war, but just a quarrel in a far-away country between people of whom we know nothing.

Saddam funds suicide bombers in Israel and probably funds these rallies - so why shouldn't these fellow travellers show up. Besides, the rally would be over pretty soon since all they have done in terms of their analysis of the situation is scream "no blood for oil" ergo it becomes a rally for every "progressive" (actually reactionary since they are basically the status quo in our culture) cause in the book.
I just hate to see ageing hippies who are lost in the 60's.

Sorry -- I don't have the answer for you -- but I guess I can tell you this -- the only rally I ever participated in was a homeschooling rally at the State Capital in Pennsylvania -- where the crowd was 10 to 1 in favor of a new proposal that reduced paperwork/regulations for homeschooling families -- we FILLED a large auditorium and quietly voiced our opposition to the current law -- the result ?? A few months later, the education committee met and sabotaged the new bill by introducing last-minute changes that would have increased the accountability and tighten the stranglehold the school districts already have over us -- it was extremely disappointing and I can't see myself ever being involved in something like this again -- those "in power" don't care about the "little" people -- they care about who lines their pockets
I love the fact that we seem to have an honorable, forthright and God-fearing man in the White House right now...and I care for our fighting men and women more than I can say...but my little voice just isn't going to make a difference when up against organized thugs and haters like we've seen today
