On my way to work I was listening to NPR (our only radio station) and they were saying for all Americans to have enough food and water for 3 days, to have a radio and fresh batteries, and to have on hand DUCT TAPE and some kind of tarp to cover and seal windows. That one caught my attention. Is the gov. expecting nuclear bombs to fall?

Great information, all. Thank you.
I spent quite a few hours this past weekend refilling/refreshing my 72-hour kit. I even constructed an additional extension kit in a big plastic tool chest on rollers with some additional comfort items, camping stuff, etc. Gas tank is full, batteries are all checked and charged or new, water supply topped off ...

Good post punk. If we had a responsible media in America, theyd forego some of the garbage they spew, and use their immense communicative powers (which they exercise over OUR AIRWAVES) to educate the public about this information.

I don't have time to READ all that stuff, much less DO it!! I'd rather go quickly than live like that anyhow.

Thanks for the post. Printing from the website to keep at my work. I keep a shortwave/sideband/AM/FM radio near me at all times. Home and at work. Keep flashlights everywhere (mag lites)and those little sapphire lights on my keyrings.Keep emergency supplies in your cars. One thing I learned from my Mom years ago. Never let your gas tank get below half full. We live in a rural area and are pretty much OK. I am a first aid/CPR instructor with the Red Cross, so I recommend everyone get certified.
And a note to the other ladies on this site. BE OBSERVANT! Too many us of walk around in Code White...we need to move up to Code Yellow. Watch, observe and pre-plan how to act in an emergency. Know what you are willing and able to do in an emergency or to give a helping hand.
