Mayor of London Launches Fierce Attack On Bush
Anti-war march: what the speakers said ^

Posted on 02/15/2003 11:42:29 AM PST by maquiladora

At the anti-war march in London:

The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, launched a scathing attack on the US president, George Bush, during his address to crowds in London's Hyde Park.

"This is a president who uses the death penalty with complete abandon and disregard for any respect for life. This is no example," Mr Livingstone said.

"So let everyone recognise what has happened here today: that Britain does not support this war for oil. The British people will not tolerate being used to prop up the most corrupt and racist American administration in over 80 years.

"If you listened to Tony Blair today ... he talked about giving more time to the inspectors, he talked about the need for a new UN resolution, and there's the weakness.

"There are nations on the security council that are for sale. Nations who will be offered the liquidation of their debts and offered major grants. Let's watch the security council like hawks.

"Let's not, having won the moral case and demonstrated the opposition of the world, lose this fight because of corruption and vote-buying on the security council."

"The British people will not tolerate being used to prop up the most corrupt and racist American administration in over 80 years."

Must've missed the last one, Ken.

And the British people will tolerate whatever their overlords in Washington decide for them. Which really gets his goat.

My e-mail to him consisted simply of an image. The eagle with the Old Glory war-paint:

The only difference being that the one I sent him was the high res, 1.37 Megabyte version, so he can contemplate it in its full glory (and have his mailbox hopelessly clogged, if enough people ping him).

The current Mayor of London is a raving Communist.

Isn't he also--like Barney Frank--an avowed Homosexual? I am not trying to start a witch-hunt, but isn't he one of those who wear his deviancy as a badge of honor?

If I have him mixed up with a predecessor, then I am sorry. I do not smear people with whom I disagree. I have no problem dealing with any Leftist argument. (The last one who gave me any problem was decades ago.) But there was quite a stir about someone favored to win the post of Lord Mayor of London, a couple of years ago, and believe that this is the one.

He believes Cuba is an ideal place for someone in the Third World to live

Maybe he should go take up residence in Cuba and leave London alone

And here's what the amazingly red Vanessa Redgrave had to say at the same rally:

"The British and American governments are about to destroy all hopes for peace anywhere in our world for ever. This war has already begun."

Forever? Isn't that crediting the British and American governments with some pretty impressive, one might even say "divine" powers? Also, since the war has already begun, and peace has therefore already been "destroyed forever", isn't it a bit late to be protesting, Vanessa?

You can get FOX via the internet:

FOX News

It's in the menu on the right hand side.

(I found this in a post on FR last night -- can't remember who posted it.)

"I thank God every day for saving me and my soul and helping me get out of England. "

I am really starting to wonder if the USA shouldn't take out UK's and France's nuclear missile subs and bombs.

These countries are not our friends anymore.

Thanks for that link, some useful stations there, but no FOX. The link labelled FOX went to some university TV station site. The link labelled CNN did the same thing. Seems like someone wants to improve that station website's hit count.

No, you have to wait a few seconds after the university thing pops up. Then Real Player or Media Player (whichever you have) pops up and you can close out of the university window. I've already watched CNN and FOX this way.

Try it again when you have a chance.
