Operation Infinite Freep - After Action Report - Houston, TX (15 Feb 2003)
15 February 2003 | PetroniDE

Posted on 02/15/2003 7:08:25 PM PST by PetroniDE

Iraq will not disarm unless forced and the United Nations will not enforce its own resolutions. Since Iraq will not disarm voluntarily, it is now up to the United States and the "coalition of the willing" to disarm Iraq. Despite overwhelming evidence that Saddam Hussein will not voluntarily disarm, large groups of "anti-Americans" demonstrated throughout the world against the United States. One of these protests occurred in Houston, TX.

Despite threatening weather early, the skies cleared by noon and the "anti-war" protest occurred under sunny skies with temperature around 70 degrees. The "anti-American" gathering was huge (about 3000-4000). About 40 groups, covering a wide range of democrat, socialists, communist, environmentalist, and “anti-GOP/Bush” groups sponsored the gathering. Despite the high turnout, there was a group of twelve people from FreeRepublic.com who were not intimidated by the large "anti-American" gathering. With the Freepers positioning themselves at the park entrance, the "anti-Americans" were required to march past our group to attend their rally. Traffic was light in the area, but our signs were greeted by the usual honks of encouragement.

Freeper Sign Samples
1) Large 8 foot x 3 foot sign "WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS".
2) Large United States flag with President Bush (as Uncle Sam) rolling up his sleeves.
3) Terrorist Hunting Permit.
4) Remember 11 September, Lets Roll

It is hard not to laugh at the "anti-American" crowd, so we proudly present:

Humorous Freeper Responses
1) No War sign: Our response was "Go War", "Pro War", and "War On".
2) "What Do We Want" chant: Our response was "FOOD STAMPS" or "HYGIENE".
3) A couple of people were asked if they were French and if they responded "yes" were further asked if they spoke German. Their response was "no", and our response was "your welcome, and remember that".
4) There were a few signs regarding Election 2000, and our response "Don't blame us you guys can't punch a hole in a piece of cardboard".

Freeper Responses Representing More Serious Themes
1) War solved Hitler.
2) "We tried peace, we got 9-11".
3) Seal our borders, not our windows.
4) In response to "What would Jesus do" sign, our answer was "Jesus came not to bring peace, but a sword".

Media Information
1) Channel 39 (WB) conducted interviews and took pictures.
2) Reporter from Northwestern State Univ. (Louisiana) conducted interviews.
3) At least two interviews conducted by the Indymedia crowd.

Other Bits of Information
1) The "anti-American" crowd was obscene today. We had one child in our group and there were many instances of "the finger" and profanity shouted at our group.
2) One "anti-American" had a sign "Bombing is to Piece is like F****** is to Virginity".
3) After the Freep, it was off to Floyd's Cajun Kitchen. The crawfish made a surprise attack and somewhere in the upcoming pictures, there is evidence of us imitating the French army, surrendering to the vicious and well-trained crawfish.

I'm putting this out to people engaged in Operation Infinite FReeps nationwide.

I'm at work right now and I just thought of the idea of reading letters from our troops over a megaphone. The way we're begining to work it out is this:
Someone who has contact with personnel overseas sends an email to him/her with the message, "If you or your friends wanted to say anything to peace protesters, what would it be?" Also letters might include things like what they ate today, stuff that shows the world that they're American human beings like the rest of us. Of course, no operations details or profanity. But I'm hoping that when these letters are read to the peaceniks, they might actually start to feel less significant.

We're planning to do this on Sat. in Colorado. I'm hoping you others can pass the word and share ideas. Thanks for your time....FREEP ON!!!!

I don't know why I didn't think of this before!!!)

Your e-mail came at a PERFECT time because all we've been seeing on the news is "Peace/Anti-War Rally" news. The media (at-large) made it seem everyone around the world this weekend was AGAINST us. Thanks for showing otherwise!"

Just mention that even though the anti-war freaks are bandying around a 30mil number that means that 6,275,283,237 people around the world DID NOT join their efforts to give aid and comfort to the world's most ruthless dictator.

GREAT JOB HOUSTON!! Keep it up! Now is the time to go on the offensive. Start FReeping at a regular time and place every week, you don't need any peace-niks around to show our troops that you support them. They are seeing these reports.
All the Best!

hehe! I always let y'all tell them in your own words....I send them your posted replies just as I post their replies to the pics and things I send. (see post #79)

These rallies mean a lot to them. I'm thrilled to have the means to get the word out about them.

Thanks to all the Houston FReepers who help put smiles on our service men and women's faces. Y'all ROCK!

We shall do more soon, maybe as soon as Friday and always with pix.
Consider yourself on the ping list!
God Bless our Troops!

THANK YOU!! I'd be more than happy to be on the ping list.

I'm overwhelmed by the number of rally threads on FR. I had no idea there were so many til I started really looking for them! LOL!! Getting the word out to our service men and women that they have support "back home" is a top priority to me. They need us now more than ever.

Thanks again. I look forward to your future threads and pix. So do my pen pals overseas!

I had a billing snafu with the ISP folks.. turns out one can only
leave things on "automatic" for so long, figured that account was
good for three years, at least.. note to self:
Pay More Attention!

Good to hear from you.. you are missed, too!
Did we do good, or what?!?!

freeping from your balcony

Actually, I kinda was.. the loony parade was less than 300 yards from humble manor..
I was personally offended by their proximity.

Beats the heck out of cartoons, these guys were the real "Itchy & Scratchy"...

Has the stench of the unwashed been fumigated from the area yet?

The stench has mostly blown away, but some few tons of trash remain!
Leftists are bad for the environment.

Just got back into town, guys.

Looks y'all did us proud!
Wish I'd been there with my admiralty flag and my Marine Corps flag to help you out.

Thanks, C., for that Fresno recognition.
