Some Maine Teachers Traumatizing Students of Deployed Soldiers
WABI- TV Bangor Maine | February 21, 2003 | 6 PM News

Posted on 02/23/2003 9:02:29 AM PST by bogeybob

WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.

Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:

"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.

In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.

We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.

Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

Ya know, Chamberlain was criticized for causing disruption by "encouraging" students at his school to enlist and go to war. The fellow teachers and administration suggested that this fuddy duddy professor take a much needed "sabbatical" and go tour Europe for a year or two.

Instead, Chamberlain left Bowdoin College to join the U.S. Army, avoided "Command", so was given Second in Command. But circumstances PUT him in command on the fateful day which kept Gettysburg from becoming a Federal defeat, and was awarded the medal of honor for doing so.

Not sure how GODS AND GENERALS turns out on film, as I'm still waiting for Lord of the Rings (The Two Towers) to show up. But it was a GREAT book!

Please forward to Bill. This needs to be splattered all over America to prevent other teachers in other states from traumatizing other children.

These people are lower than low!

Others to consider might be Foxnews, Howie Carr, Neal Boortz, etc.

There might be a cover up underway here in Maine. Not a word in the Sunday papers about this. The entire Maine daily print media is very, very liberal.

I will personally kick the ass of any teacher I hear saying anything negative to the children of our servicemembers.

I tried to add the US: Maine state list to the topic without success. Please update the topic so we can be sure and get our Maine FReepers clued into this travesty in their own back yard. Thank you.

If they are federalized, they are not under control of the Governor now. They are under US Army control, and are assets of the federal government. Thats where you take your shot!

Fire away!...I'm gonna call my state senator tomorrow!

The Senate and Congress should also be informed that these children of service members are being abused in this way.
I'm going to send this to Senator Warner, and disseminate it down here so that others are aware that the ~education elite~ are harming little ones by bashing the military, and their own families.

For shame!

If true, these educators are probably the same asshole who spit on returning Vietnam Vets, and called them 'baby killers'.

Traitors of the worst kind, and child abusers.

Long past time for school vouchers. Long past time to annihilate these evil teachers unions.

They are reporting their largest deployment in 60 years in the papers this weekend. I think the Guard General does report to the Governor, however.

I have written the State's Education Commissioner, Duke.Albanese@maine.gov but I doubt he will even respond. Maine is in total control of the Democrats.

Forwarded tip to World Net Daily and Drudge. This may be the tip of the iceberg of something happening nationally, and if so, needs to be exposed.

These are the people who will remove a book from the school library if one student feels uncomfortable about a few words in the book.

How intolerant they are and how hypocritical!!

Being as how I am on active duty and am stationed in a city that is heavily populated by DOD personnel, I have the privilege of not having to deal with a bunch of antiwar crap happening in the middle of the city and a support net of many, many like people. With that said, I cannot imagine a concerted effort by local teachers to harass and belittle the child of a service member. I cannot imagine the horror of a child that not only has a parent plucked out of his/her life to go far away and maybe not come back.

I can, however, imagine what would happen if such a concerted effort was made here. I could imagine hundreds, if not thousands of Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Coasties laying the boots to local teachers, schools and schoolboards. Maybe something of that nature could be coordinated in Maine?

I have no doubt that this is true. A Maine Army Guard Lt. Col. even was interviewed on camera. Letters have also been written by senior officers. This is the real deal!

The General is a political appointee of the Governor, and has some oversight when units are activated.

However, when the units are on federal duty, they are under the command and control of the regular Army, and the US Government officials until they are returned to state duty and demobilized. After demobilization, they return to state government control.

Believe me, a call to a good republican senator or congressman will get amazing results in no time flat!

Charges are brought first (and not in secret), then proof is provided, not the other way around. I can understand not throwing out there for public consumption every slanderous claim which comes along, but I'm convinced something more is going on in this case. The hyperleftwing track record of the NEA and its adherents is well-known.

Why does this not surprise me? The public schools of America have suffered from leftist hegemoney for over 40 years.

Just another great reason for parents to home-school.
