The Nazis also thought we couldnt break their code because it was the best and we all know who won that war. Do you assume the same thing?

Another hysterical headline, another puff of smoke as some more fiction gets printed as "news".

Your computer forensics knowledge is sadly lacking.

What is this "infinite job pool" fallacy.? Prove IT!
You can't.

There will be riots in the streets in 4 years.
Those socialist parasites currently marching throuh
the streets and that expect the gubment to
keep'em on the dole for years will get mean when they
find out we're done paying them.

San Fran Bay alone has 65,000 software developers out of work.
Software development jobs are running by the thousands
to India, et al where they work for rice.
The efficiencies here are keeping down remaining job slots.
What are they going to do? Deliver pizza.
Who's gonna buy the pizza?

The Chinese are very patient and very smart.
They will sell us the rope with which we will hang ourselves.

That doesn't sound like information to me, more like opinion.

Time to bring back a moribund American institution: execution for treason.

traitorrapist42 gave them 100% missile reliability.

Wen Ho Lee ("Kindred Spirit", viz. Notra Trulock, Codename Kindred Spirit) was protected by Sandy Berger (Clinton National Security Advisor, PRC lobbyist at Hogan & Hartson) for years; then Janet Reno denied wiretaps and search warrants for Lee only, while granting same for hundreds of other requests.

John Huang received CIA classified briefings at Commerce; then went across the street to Stephens, Inc. to a second-floor windowless office, there faxing to ChinaResources, a PLA intelligence front and full partner of Riady's Lippo.

"Are you and WorldNutDaily saying with a straight face that the FBI adn CIA aren't using crypto for classified traffic?"

You know, I was thinking about that too. Clinton probably left the crypto as our only secret.

Got to get up pretty early in the morning to outsmart you.

And the Chinese have no ability to intercept radio signals.

I am not a military expert by any stretch, and don't claim to be one, but I have heard that China has this capability.

They have their version of the "EP3" albeit not nearly as sophisticated and they fly around Southern China, Vietnam, etc collecting signals.

About how well they can decode things, who knows.

If I am not mistaken the Chinese were going to buy out a listening station in Cuba (from the Russians) also.

Nope. But I also know the real reason why we were able to break German crypto, and that was the fact that the Germans had extremely poor COMSEC and cryptokeying procedures. Properly employed, Enigma was extremely secure for its time. The Luftwaffe had the worst procedures, and their traffic was routinely broken in real time. The Kriegsmarine was usually a much tougher nut to crack, and many of their keys remained unbroken throughout the war.

Additionally, you're ignoring the fact that most of our traffic uses RF for transport--are you seriously suggesting that, because the ChiComs can receive those signals, we should cease and desist from their use?

I'd recommend a book by Gordon Welchman, titled The Hut Six Story. Welchman worked at Bletchley Park during the war, and the book goes into some detail as to how Enigma was broken. It should be in the biography section of your library.

Re: computer forensics. Since a fair amount of traffic these days goes over microwave links, I guess you're arguing that we have to unplug ALL government computer networks because they are vulnerable to interception.

Re: jobs. Your rant has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Operating and maintaining a telecom infrastructure is NOT the same as writing code.

As for the whining about jobs getting outsourced: software has become a commodity. If America insists on punishing, via obscene taxation and regulation, those people and companies that actually hire people for any purpose (be it turning wrenches on an asembly line or writing code), the jobs are going to go offshore. It's really that simple.

This may be of interest:
China loves the buena vista

February 27 2003

Beijing: Cuba's veteran communist leader, Fidel Castro, received a warm welcome in Beijing yesterday on his way home from the Non-Aligned Movement meeting in Malaysia.

It derived not from admiration for his ideological conviction or from a taste for retro Latin music as played by the Buena Vista Social Club.

The "buena vista" (good view) most appreciated by the Chinese is the vantage point Dr Castro provides for the Chinese military in spying on the United States.

According to the Australian National University specialist Desmond Ball, Chinese personnel have been operating two signals intelligence stations in Cuba since early 1999.

One is a large complex at Bejucal, south of Havana, equipped with 10 satellite communications antennas and mainly concerned with intercepting US telephone communications. A "cyber-warfare" unit is also based at Bejucal, monitoring data traffic between computers, said Professor Ball in a paper delivered last month on China's military role.

The second Chinese station is located in eastern Cuba, and is reported to be dedicated to intercepting satellite-based US military communications.

"China is actively and extensively engaged in the whole realm of signals intelligence, electronic warfare and cyber-warfare activities," Professor Ball said.

China uses computer viruses to disrupt military communications and public broadcasts,

but Chinese cyber-attacks are easily countered by the West's superior technology.

And it happens because the American worker, not satisfied with being legally entitled to engage in monopolistic behavior and outright thuggery under the guise of "collective bargaining," also demands that "the bosses" be "punished" for the unpardonable sin of running the business that employs him.

I am not a telecommunication expert but in the event of a Chinese invasion on America, why do they bother to decode the encrypted communications. They always have the simpler option to just unplug the entire system and render America's military, civil and commercial communication crippled. When the system is up again, the Chinese are already at the White House accepting America's surrender. Game over. If this deal goes through, it would be the equivalent of placing the plug in China's hand.

WAKE UP, AMERICA. THERE WILL BE HEAVY PRICE TO PAY FOR YOUR BLINDNESS.
