Left Wing College Entry #9

Posted on 02/26/2003 6:54:51 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

And now some words of shi...er...wisdom from my Socialis...uh...Business Law professor.....

. . . "Those aren't babies in there, they are unfertilized eggs!"

"Socialism would be great if it worked, but it doesn't! I would love it if it worked, because you over there could collect garbage, and you over there could make software, and both get paid the same! Now lets get back to talking about this redistribution of wealth thing. I really think its a great idea."

"I think everybody in the military should be over 65, and we shouldn't have any young people in there. The old people have enjoyed America. These young ones haven't enjoyed it yet, and I don't like seeing young people blown up"

"If you use Blistex you are a slave to the Blistex corporation. All Blistex does is make your lips dryer so that you have to use it more often"

"I think that germs are a very good thing. If you are constantly cleaning yourself, your body won't have anything to fight, and as soon as you get hit with one little virus, your going down like a sack of potatoes. This is why I occasionally don't wash my hands after using the bathroom, and touch doorknobs, and then go eat sandwiches"

"Who you know is Affirmative Action for White people. It strikes me as odd that George Bush got into Yale because of who his Dad was, but at Michigan they aren't allowed to do the exact same thing"

"All the rich states voted for Gore, and all the poor backwards uneduated states voted for Bush"

My essay question for my other American Prez class is this. I would appreciate it if you guys helped me with this one.

Discuss the formal and informal qualifications and the current electoral context for presidential candidates. How do these affect the qualifications and potential for a successful presidency today?

Man, pretty poor stuff. Reminds me of my days at Vassar in the 1980s - Reagan was president and we were kickin bootie! Haha! I have lost patience with people like that and I don't even humor them anymore.

Ewwwwww!
His class requirement should be Purell.
You know, when he first started, I agreed with him. Studies are showing that the over use of anti-bacterial soaps are having the same effect as the over use of anti-biotics. But damn, there are some basic things we all learn before Kindergarten that should be rules of life.
Thank God I am no longer in Ohio and have to run into the people like him.

I hope your professor sticks to political science - biology isn't his strong suit. He isn't likely to get sick by not washing after playing in his own poo, since you can't catch what you already have, but other people are not quite that fortunate and may not be properly grateful for the little dose of salmonella, shigella, enteropathogenic E. coli, etc, etc, that he paints on sundry public surfaces...I'm hoping he was kidding, but anyone silly enough to buy into redistribution of wealth and the failure of socialism simultaneously isn't dealing with a full deck anyhow.

The statutory requirements for the office of President of the United States may be found in the Constitution, Article II, Section 1. If what the fellow was referring to were other, unwritten "qualifications," then I'd caution against any premature dependence on blue blood or extensive family connections - there are a number of serious exceptions to that, including Truman, Carter, and George W. Bush's immediate and unnameable predecessor. Military connections are common - Eisenhower, Grant, Washington. The legal profession is well-represented - Jefferson, Lincoln. In olden days oratory was more necessary than now, replaced by facility in the employment of broadcast communications media.

H.L. Mencken had this to say about the qualifications necessary to be a politician:

The typical politician is not only a rascal but also a jackass, so he greatly values the puerile notoriety and adulation that sensible men try to avoid.

Shall we lend a hand on this one? 8^)

"Now lets get back to talking about this redistribution of wealth thing. I really think its a great idea."

Naturally you replied, "Then since I'm a poor college student and you are paid well above the poverty line, let's start by redistributing your wealth, today, in this class, right now."

"I think everybody in the military should be over 65, and we shouldn't have any young people in there. The old people have enjoyed America. These young ones haven't enjoyed it yet, and I don't like seeing young people blown up"

People in our military, God bless them, seem to be SAFER from terrorists than were the 3,000 Americans of all ages, races, and genders in the three buildings and four jetliners that were brutally attacked on September 11.

Our enemies have been told to strike where we are most vulnerable, which is arguably NOT somewhere near the most powerful military on this planet.

So if your professor wants to see young people survive, he should be urging them to go into our military, by his "logic".

Actually no he is Irish.

[sigh] loss of cheap humor then.

Being of Irish heritage, I am hesitant to make fun of my ancestors' and distant relatives' hygiene habits. Though while in an Irish Pub in Galway, an Irishman told my sister she had to be an American to which she responded "why because I have all my teeth?" (I think he was referencing that she had several ear piercings while many Irish women do not seem to have single piercings let alone multiple). Not the nicest thing in the world to say but she was tired of getting hit on while at the same time refusing to take shelter amongst her 2 brothers. Granted that didn't help(her at least) either as the potential suitors would end up buying my brother and I drinks as a peace gesture.

I would be forever grateful. Especially the informal stuff. The formal stuff is easy. What informal qualifications. I've got them, but I have to elaborate on them.

There is no box to check on your Michigan application to indicate that you "know" someone.

On the other hand, their application DOES take the color of your skin into consideration.

What your professor wants to do is to discriminate against currently out of favor races, based solely upon skin color.

Furthermore, Michigan is a PUBLIC university, funded with tax dollars, something that the private Yale school is not burdened with.

Agreed but not washing your hands after using the bathroom and then eating a sandwich is kind of gross.

"All the rich states voted for Gore, and all the poor backwards uneduated states voted for Bush"

So your professor is not only a bigot against the poor and downtrodden, but he also admits that the Democrats are the Party of the Rich.

No wonder Clinton pardoned his running buddy, Billionaire Marc Rich.
