just as are those who collect antique firearms that use black powder, which also is on the ATF explosives list.

I made black powder as a kid. not too to do hard salt peter, sulfer, charcoal...something like that.

AMEN, this is getting absurd.

You know, there ARE going to be risks associated with living in a free society. Government cannot provide you perfect security.

The only thing they can do is slowly bleed the pleasure from life by trying.

..."This educational hobby is being seriously threatened by the Homeland Security Act, which I do not believe was Congress' intent when drafting and passing this important legislation," ...

I bet it was.

Me too, did any of yours explode? Mine only burned furiously.

Toy rocket engines with a wire fuse will guarantee that your
shotgun powder filled pipe bomb goes off.

I'm shocked we haven't outlawed gasoline yet. How long before we'll need to do a fingerprint ID check before purchasing gas? Well, with genius ideas like banning model rockets, probably not as long as I'd have thought a year ago.

As for security -- Americans will be happy to have some political figure come out and announce sweeping anti-liberty reforms -- but as long as he adds the throw-away line like, "So we can REMAIN the most free, greatest nation on the Earth!" Americans will be happy to be locked in cages *for their own security* as long as someone in power assures them that the massive loss of liberty is just some illusion propagated by anti-American liberals -- that in reality, despite not being able to travel freely, and having lost any shred of privacy, Americans will still cling to the belief that they're free.

The boys at the ATF just have too much time on their hands. To even be concerned about this is beyond stupid. When are they going to go after TERRORISTS and CRIMINALS and leave the average Joe and his kid alone?

Go do something that will REALLY keep the country safe and leave the children alone.

PS: You know, perhaps it should be known as "FedGod" as opposed to "FedGov"

Considering what people expect from it, this seems more fitting.

Yeah, I made black powder bombs when I was a kid, too. And I fooled around with potasium tri-iodide, which was pretty cool. Plus I had a cap gun and a BB gun, and a slingshot made from surgical tubing. And a drawer full of throwing knives. And a homemade speargun that I made for a summer in the Bahamas. Those were the lost days of innocence, I guess. What with kids shooting their classmates and blowing up schools, it's no longer a good idea to let them do these things.

But the real problem isn't rockets and explosives, it's the fact that so many kids are moral ignoramuses, because they aren't allowed to learn about the basics of religion and morality in school any longer.
