Thanks for the obligatory SCTV photo. Those were the days......
"May the good Lord take a likin' to ya and blow ya up real good!"
To: Shermy
I would like to know why they are hiding his identity. He is 33 years old for gods sake Not a child!

To: areafiftyone
Because until he's charged with *something* law enforcement is going to withhold his name. I expect charges to come rather quickly. Of course, enterprising reporters would just ask the neighbors who blew up good.

They hide his identity for now to avoid tipping off any co-conspirators. The full story will out soon enough.
To: Shermy
Some people manufacture their own fireworks.
This person likely may have been doing so. It is dangerous, but some people really enjoy it.
It's not all that uncommon.

The story is new. They may not have released the identity yet. Being from the area, I can almost assure you this is not a muslim terrorist cell. Hartford is generally a conservative area.

Catspaw,
I don't find it at all unusual they haven't charged or identified him yet, do you? I would be very surprised if it is linked to terrorism.

Hmmmm. Maybe just another Ted Kazinsky (sp?) in the making.

The Milwaukee Bomb Squad disposed of it in a remote part of a city park.
Well, isn't THIS just terrific!?
Idiots!

Could be, or as another person pointed out, could just be someone making some industrial-strength fireworks. In fact, that sounds very plausible.
Possible Darwin Award nominee...

>>What can we assume from the failure to identify him as a Republican?<<
Religion of Peace?
To: PatriotGames
What would your problem be with that?
To: El Sordo
Yep, just another poor explosives hobbyist that had a little "whoopsie".

Who's taking bets on whether this is a foreign or domestic wacko? ....................
Let me see. His name is either Tommy DaSShole, or Abou Ben Adhem. Dem or Iraqi.

Why don't the newpaper people ask his neighbors who he is? People other than the police know who he is.

Recall that the "Smiley Face Bomber" came from Wisconsin.

"What his intent was, we have no idea at this point," Jones said. "Until we delve deeper into his life, we cannot answer that question." If it turns out this guy is named Mohammed az-Muhammed and he's a recent immigrant from Saudi Arabia, this may turn out to be one of the dumbest statements of all time.

I don't think it's unusual that they haven't arrested him or named him, either. The bomb went off last night & I doubt if the investigation is over. They're going to need to get search warrants, for example, and to check out his associates, find out if he had any storage units rented, his bank accounts, who knows what else (like why the pipe bombs had price tags on them, for one). Amd he's not going anywhere--he does sound pretty doggone mangled.
I do know that it's rare in Wisconsin to name a suspect before he's been charged. In fact, we rarely find out the name of a suspect before he makes his first court appearance. I have a feeling one of the neighbors will name him, but the reporter(s) would have to confirm. If we had the specific address in Hartford, we could use a reverse directory to find out who it is.
It's still a bit mind-boggling that this happened in Hartford, of all places. HARTFORD? It's as bizarre as the kidnapping & murder in Francis Creek. These are places where nothing happens.

Some newspapers and TV stations have rules that they do not name suspects unless and until they are officially charged. I'm sure the press knows who they are.
