Like Terry Nicoles, McVeighs buddy? Didn't he own a farm?

It does happen.
Folks who are new to the game often will get a few buckets of the different ingredients and play around with mixing. A lot of the "books" on the subject that are sold with the supplies often give you just enough information to blow your fingers off.
In the commercial fireworks industry, many safety precautions are taken that the casual hobbyist either does not take, or is unaware of. Accidents happen.
I work with a fellow who is active in the amatuer fireworks culture. If his house ever burns down, it will be a show that the firemen will be telling their grandkids about.

They blew it up in the park.

I didn't realize Terry Nichols was a middle-eastern or muslim terrorist. Huh. I guess you learn something every day.
To: tje
Just heard he has been undergoing 16 hours of surgery to reconstruct his hands.

Anything is possible, but this is a suburban-rural-farming area and any terrorists living there would stick out like a sore thumb.
Just what I was going to say. Hey, maybe he needed something to liven up his usual cow-tipping hobby.

Well, thankfully he just blew himself up. What the heck was his plan is what I want to know.

But I *really* want to know why the bombs had price tags on them. If they were actually "bombs", the price tags don't make much sense, but they do if he was actually making homemade fireworks for sale.

I don't think terrorist wear a sign that says, "I am a terrorist"...

What? You stated, this is a suburban-rural-farming area and any terrorists living there would stick out like a sore thumb, and I stated that terrorist don't wear signs, telling you they are a terrorist.
How would *you* know if some Mid Eastern type people living or working on farm were terrorist? And how would they stick out like a sore thumb as you say?
Am I missing something here? Please enlighten me. Thanks

I don't think we're going to know anything until the local news tonight. I don't know if our local stations will cover it--except to put on a story done by one of the Milwaukee stations. They're got enough to cover, what with the kidnapping and murder of a gas station owner in a nearby town that's even smaller than Hartford.

Well, better him than any of his victims. I have to say that this sounds like some idiot that thought he was cool and was going to sell them to kids. If they had price tags on them, it sure doesn't sound like anything political.

No doubt at our expense. What does he need working hands for, anyway? So he can resume his hobby after he gets out of the slammer? Bad, bad, bad use of public healthcare funds.

Am I missing something here?
Yes you are!
Please enlighten me.
Certainly! This may come as a shock to "Coastal-Americans", but life is different here in fly over country. Towns are smaller and in my experience, people tend know more of their neighbors. Although many people in Hartford work in Milwaukee, it is still possible to know everybody in town. Due to the prevalent demographics in the area, people of Middle Eastern ancestry tend to stand out. I work 15 miles from Hartford and four years ago helped hire the first Middle Eastern national ever in the town I work in. I can tell you, even then, everybody noticed.
Thanks
No problem! :~)
To: Ronaldus Magnus
OK Ronald, I am glad to know that any mid easterner that has possibly been in country many years will stick out like a sore thumb in a rural area, and everyone in the area would know that those people on that farm or rural residence are terrorist.
Boy, you sure cleared that up. I feel much safer. Thanks for that Ronald.....

Well, tell me Ronald, how did you confirm that this new hire was not actually a terrorist? Did you conduct a NSA and CIA background investigation? Was he wearing a sign that stated, "I am not a terrorist" ?
Sorry, I couldn't resist....

Rest assured, Joe, all the Mid-Easterners in Hartford, Wisconsin do stick out like sore thumbs!

I'm glad I could help, Joe!

Good question, Joe! Although he didn't wear a sign like the one you mention, he was a friend and classmate of mine for the previous seven years so I had been able to keep track of him!
Sorry, I couldn't resist....
No problem, Joe! I'm always happy to clear up the misconceptions of a left coaster!

I'll start at the beginning, just for you Ronald. The above post stated terrorist living in a rural, suburban environment would stick out like a sore thumb.
In your vast wisdom, could you explain to me how a terrorist living **anywhere** would stick out like a sore thumb?
:o
To: Ronaldus Magnus
Be sure to contact the FBI and tell them your formula for detecting terrorist......I am sure they would love to hear from you Ronald...
Yikes!

Well, you've never been to Hartford's Farmers Market. Tomatos, onions, corn, and Pipe Bombs... They are in season, don't ya know.
