As an Iraqi refugee who has experienced firsthand the horrors of Saddam Hussein's despotic reign in Iraq, it's difficult for me to watch hundreds of thousands of people marching in the streets of America and Europe voicing their disapproval of the war plans to liberate my besieged homeland.
As I watch these images roll across my TV screen, I wonder how these protests appear to various audiences in Iraq. I wonder how much pain these rallies cause those Iraqis whose tongues were mercilessly cut off by Hussein because they chose to exercise that same right of free speech in Baghdad.
I wondered how these defiant protest chants sound to the hundreds of victims of Hussein's barbaric ear-cutting policies, for they too were opposed to the concept of war, especially those involving Hussein. I have treated many Iraqi soldiers and brave anti-war activists suffering from severe ear infections with life-threatening consequences, after being subjected to this perverse form of mutilation at the Al-Amarah military hospital. I was a medical intern at the hospital, located in the southern part of Iraq from 1994 until 1996, and was a sad witness to this atrocity. I find it unfortunate and ironic that a Western anti-war activist would march in support of Hussein and his war-inflicting regime while their brave anti-war Iraqi counterparts languish tortured and mutilated in the dark jails of Saddam Hussein.
I wondered how the protest banners carried by the marchers appear to Iraqis who have long been subjected to leafleting by Iraq's "Great Uncle." In 1991, my family was the terrified recipient of one such chilling message when Hussein's military helicopters dropped leaflets informing the residents of my town that the Iraqi military was about to strike us with chemical weapons. We were told the action was necessary in an effort to quell the popular and widespread anti-Hussein uprising. One of these leaflets fell in my family's garden. I can only imagine the horror my family and the residents of my town must have felt when they read the signs of the anti-war protesters asking their leaders to extend the reign of the Butcher of Baghdad.

South Korea added to the recent danger by their anti-American rhetoric over the past few years. Japan could have nuclear weapons in a matter of days if this continues. I have no problem with that but China might. :o)
How often do you see an official representative of the US Admin stand next to a known Terrorist organization? Has the US ever stood in partnership with known terrorists?
Name one time a Serb ever collaberated with a terrorist organization, that was sanctioned by that persons (Serb or American citizen) own government? C'mon, please do tell.
I will remind you that this is a forum for conservatives like myself to address issues of public importance. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU OR OTHER PEOPLE OF YOUR KIND TO COME HERE AND DUMP ON US JUST BECASUE YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT WE SAY.
If you have a disagreement with what me or other freepers say you go create your own message board and air those disagreements. You don't go and dump on a message board for conservatives.
You have been presented with all the evidence on atrocities by Saddam. Obviously, you don't have an intelligent rebuttal to this so all you can resort to is childish and immature ad-hominem attacks.
I have read all the material I know what's going on. Obviosuly it's you whose mind is closed, not me.
You're more suited for DU than FR.
I'd say "Let's Roll" is plenty good enough - it started as a battle cry on the passengers of hijacked flight 93, and I for one plan to stick with it.
A Red Herring is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:Topic A is under discussion.
Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A).
Topic A is abandoned. This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because merely changing the topic of discussion hardly counts as an argument against a claim.
We, none of us, are mindreaders--something you now claim must be in place in order to trust future dealings made by our Administration. Rather, we must believe that others are pressed to a higher calling--BELIEVING others will act in the best interests of their peoples. Otherwise, there can never be any treaties made, any positions taken, because we cannot read minds or ever truly know a person's character.
Just because the Iranians FAILED to live up to past promises/expections does not mean that all future dealings with the Iranian PEOPLE should be treated AS IF they will always be dishonoest. And the transgressions of IRANIAN people does not equate to transgressions of IRAQI people; or, in the reverse, if Serbs appear to be honest, this does not mean they shall ALWAYS be honest or that they are the ONLY honest peoples.
My answer is not to trust the Terrorists.
What is your opinion on the Albanian Muslims who were put into power in Kosovo Province of Serbia or of the KLA?
Not one time have I defended Hussien, not one time did I say I do not support the US action that will take place the 3d week of March or before April. Not once have I ever stated I was a peacenik nor anti-war.
I have stated just the opposite, it must be you who feels threatened and intimidated to continiously be in denial.
How have you fought terrorism, hmmmm? Besides stroking your keyboard.
Im not saying that you are, just remain or are ignorant of those facts on Kosovo Albanian Muslim teams being given the green light (no pun intended) to have a free pass and collect $200, literally.
That is not to mention those Jihadians still roaming free in Bosnia under the guise of IFOR. You can thank your little leader W.Clark for that. Whom by the way, is considering a run for the Presidency.
1000:1 is a proportion, isn't it?
Makes for interesting Dinner time conversation with friends and strangers, doesnt it?..:))
Thats what I enjoy about this site, though I agree on most topics written above, someone has to be the dissenter...:)
Did the Pink Protestors see this? How about NOW? Or are they all thinking, "they are just Iraqi women, they don't have the right to voice an opinion"?
I was against the terrorist elements who were put into power by our previuous administration. Obviously, this was done for political reasons. I don't think we should have been there because there was no National Security issue involved at the time. X42 did this to cover up his impeachable activities.
This issue is a National Security issue. As I've stated I don't like wars, but this issue is a National Security issue because Saddam has weapons of mass destruction. I know you don't want to believe that or anything about his human rights but the evidence is there, whether you want to believe it or not.
You continue to backtrack and say you're not a peacenik, but your profile page and all the postings here on thread seem to tell me otherwise. I think it's you who has the bugaboo, not me.
What I'd like for you to do is tell the thousands of iraqis who been tortured and punished for their opposition to Saddam right in their face what you have been saying here on this thread. You say you're not defending Hussien but your posts on this thread seem to indicate otherwise.
