A chicken protest led by the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde turned into a near riot over the weekend when angry diners attacked her for ruining their meals.

The rocker joined a dozen animal activists in a protest raid on a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) fast food restaurant in Seattle, Wash.

The reality of life is that these creatures are food. However, I do agree that chickens are created with exceptional cruelty.

I would like to see improved methods of slaughter, etc. where the creatures we depend upon for food are treated as humanely as possible. I have seen trucks laden with chickens on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where half the chickens appear dead already from suffocation. And this presents a health hazard to humans because these dead chickens are probably not tossed out, but used for human consumption.

But it certainly does no good to attack the folks at a KFC who are simply trying to have dinner.

I understand that she hates that. Rush once told a story about her coming unhinged at a concert over it. They had just started playing the opening notes to "My City Was Gone". The audience started chanting "Rush! Rush! Rush!" when she lost it and almost stormed out of the concert.

I used to be a fan of The Pretenders, but I am appreciating and understanding the name more and more by watching her shenanigans.

"Give us what we deserve"was the breaking point for me.

I'd like to see the other mambers of this band that I once respected take a stand.

No...it has been commented on a lot recently with Chrissie Hynde in the news. Lots of discussion. The song is called My City was Gone These are the lyrics you never hear on the Rush bumper....
