The poll ain't doin' too good:

In light of the Dixie Chicks recent statement, should QDR stop playing their music?

YES 54.5% 308044

NO 45.5% 256947

------------------------------

Looks like is being anti-FReeped!

"The president is ignoring the opinions of many in the United States and alienating the rest of the world.

"Many" maybe, but not MOST.

In order to understand the mindset of most of these "entertainers", you have to realize what their world is like. These "entertainers" are sheltered from the real world and are constantly surrounded by sycophants and flunkies who cater to their every whim. They literally live in a bubble. Their world is reduced to limousines, hotel suites and gated mansions. Everybody that they come in contact with is kissing their ass. After a few years of living like this, many of these people begin to entertain delusions of grandeur. That is, they begin to think that they are "special" and superior to everybody else. This is why so many of them feel obligated to impose their narrow views on the world on all the "unwashed serfs" out there who so obviously (in their minds) could benefit from their so-called "worldly" views.

That is the root of the whole problem. These entertainers have lost touch with reality and they start believing that they have been placed on this earth for some "divine purpose" and that their success in the entertainment world is merely giving them the opportunity to use their fame and fortune to "make the world a better place." This is the classic "Bono" syndrome (sanctimonious lead singer of U2).

Some entertainers are able to keep their feet on the ground however. My hat goes off to them. It ain't easy to do.

Ok, but at least you can vote as much as you want. Obviously the fans for the three fat cows, aka the VICHY CHICKS, voted one hell of a lot initially to stack the deck. So vote away on any poll you can. Also make sure you vote against the VICHY CHICKS at:

www.cmt.com

Any chance you can to FReep a poll to get them off the air, I say go for it.

Like it. One of the best I've seen.

I am not going to argue with you. THE POLL HAS A COOKIE, PERIOD. It is just they may not be set up to allow only one vote.

Why did the Dixie Chicks cross the road?

To propogandize for the other side.

It was anti-FReeped before FRiends were aware of it. Then when a distraught FReeper put the word out last night it swapped in favor of banning the DC's. Voting "YES" is an anti-VICHY CHICK vote and it took 70,000 pro-America votes to get it to this point.

That's not true. The VICHY CHICKS could stay and be welcome in Cuba and North Korea, hell maybe even Libya too!

Durn! You are absolutely correct. Why didn't I think of that, lol. Hey, come to think of it, the Vicious Chicklets could keep lil' Kimmie Il J. distracted for as long as the traitorous darlings could stomach his caresses (rumor has it that bathing is anathema (second only to the USA) to him ;-)

"The statement continued with a personal message from Miss Maines: "The president is ignoring the opinions of many in the United States and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration and one of the privileges of being an American is you are free to voice your own point of view." "

The one thing that used to exasperate me, but now concerns me, is the mindset that somehow the 'right to free speech' for celebrities precludes the right of people that bought their product to walk away and boycott.
You see the same attitude expressed by the Hollywood actor's union warning the industry not to 'blacklist' actors who choose to shout their opinions in a public forum, only to have the general public use their rights of freedom of association to not support said actor's movies or support their sponsors. What movie executive in their right mind, in a business that makes its money from the folks paying $7.00 a pop to watch a movie, would continue to turn off the people paying the movie industries' bills? That is not blacklisting, but business.

Sorry, Virginia, but the 1st amendment cuts both ways. You 'celebrities' have every right to your views, and to express them, but I have every right not to support you with my hard earned money, or your sponsors with my hard earned money.

Oh, no argument. I'm just pointing out that you can vote all you want, LOL. That's what the pro-fat-commie chick contigent did, now the anti-VICHY CHICKS Pro-America side has taken over.

Psuedo-Country on NPR! Do you think the elitists would ever stoop to such a level? That would be fun to watch!

NPR has been playing Steve Earle for some time now.

would it still be there when you got back??

However, I have never claimed my opinion to outweigh the opinions of others.

Oh, I believe she wrote it. She cannot even handle English, let alone fathom the complexities of military geo-politics.

Sheryl says she believes in America, and inalienable rights, due process, etc...just not for Iraqis.

You have it exactly right. Celebs are surrounded by fans who tell them they're wonderful and by flunkies they hire to tell them they're wonderful. Add to that the fact that for a generation the teaching of history - world or American - has been iffy, and you get this result: people who have no sense of history, no awareness of the necessity for war in some instances, and the post-Vietnam conviction that the US government is always wrong. I look forward to hearing what the celebs will say when the freed Iraqi people are cheering the US troops in the streets of Baghdad in a week or so. (However, they'll read war news in the LA Times, which will undoubtedly report any supposed US "atrocity" and not the cheering crowds.)
