Democrat Conyers to Protesters: Impeach Bush
By Jeff Gannon
GOPUSA News
March 17, 2003

WASHINGTON (GOPUSA News) -- On Saturday, thousands of protesters once again gathered in the shadow of the Washington Monument to hear speeches against war in Iraq as well as to express support for Palestine and demand universal health care. The rally was sponsored by the leftist organization, A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).

Speakers from several other groups, including the Free Palestine Alliance, National Committee to Free the Cuba Five, and Queers for Peace and Justice took to the stage during the two-hour rally. There were calls for civil disobedience to begin Monday.

Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) addressed the crowd and urged them to "vote to impeach George W. Bush." Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, founder of International Action Center, also called for impeachment, saying that the Bush administration is "committing the worst crimes known to humanity."

After the speeches, the protesters filled the streets to march around the White House. Marchers were kept at least a block from the executive residence by barriers and mounted police. Marchers made their way in a circular route back to the National Mall, but not before passing in front of a small group of loud pro-America counter-demonstrators from the Free Republic. They waved American and Marine Corps flags and shouted slogans such as "Swim to Cuba" and "War Freed the Slaves."

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) watched the march from Pershing Park and remarked that the protesters' message was "anti-American" and "anti-Bush." He observed that the flags carried by the marchers were those of Palestine, the United Nations, and even one of Japanese Revolutionary Communist League. More than one Gay and Lesbian rainbow flag was seen among the rally participants.

King noted that the only American flags in the march were desecrated in one way or another, some with the 60s peace symbol in the blue section usually filled with stars representing the 50 states. One flag had corporate logos instead of the stars. The Iowa congressman also noticed that the supposed cross-section of Americans that opposed the war were conspicuously absent.

When asked by GOPUSA News to comment on Conyers' call for the impeachment of President Bush, King said, "Where was Conyers when we had a president who deserved to be impeached?"

He is a very impressive individual. He has a capacity for politics and policy that is unequaled, in my view; and great personal fortitude.

He will be, without any doubt, our champion.

He has been a FReeper for many years, by the way. I would be shocked if he doesn't read this thread.

By the way, don't ask me his sn...like your story about his actions at the march, I don't think he wants any publicity. Besides, I don't know. ;-)

Said that the anti-war protestors aren't against the military, they are for them

If the mob decides "democratically" to spit on returning soldiers they will do it. It wouldn't be the first time these protestors (many in their 50s) spit on people they didn't agree with (some have even done so during this war's protests).

Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders is among the traitors who has said she will cheer for Iraqi victories against American troops.

I've heard from leftists who are say they are disgusted to see the American flag (not how it is used, just seeing it period). I have heard from leftists who said that they want to see the members of this administration dead; not by any stated action, just dead. They should realize that their statements put them to a farther extreme than those "extreme right wingers" that disliked JFK in the 1960s. They ARE anti-American. One can dislike the current administration but accept that this is the administration that we have. Conservatives had to grin and bear it through 8 years of Bubba Clinton's co-presidency with the un-elected Hillary Clinton. We still said "President" Clinton even though we had no respect for the man, we still respected the office. We were disgusted with what he did with the office (physically and in terms of power). Now we can call him impeached president Clinton but he was permitted to stay in office (and retain his tax payer benefits for life). There were calls to censure him but the Rats dropped that line when he was no longer in threat of being removed from office. Why hasn't the left called for censuring Saddam Hussein?

The left doesn't hold respect for America's political system and symbols. They ARE NOT patriotic. They live for the here and now and to get what they can.

Bush can't be impeached yet, he hasn't had sexual relations while in the oval office and he hasn't lied under oath! Wait a minute.... Conyers didn't want the other guy impeached for that!

The audacity of Conyers. What a slime member of the commie DSA progressive caucus.

Socialists always protest war. Socialists never protested socialist Clinton for his crimes and aspirin factory bombings killing innocent people.

Conyers is a sanctimonious blowhard and I wish the words from his treasonous mouth would backfire on him and HE would be run out of congress. When did it become acceptable for for those whose agenda are against America's primciples to hold public office anyway? Why are they not scrutinized and rejected as being a danger to the well-being of the nation as they should be? We need exterminatiors in congress....not more Rats!!!!

I hereby submit for your approval my own distinguished Representative, Ms. Nita Lowey of NY's 18th district. I am disappointed that Ms. Lowey was left off the list. On the plus side, now the list is an even 50. Representitive-In-Perpetuity Lowey is the poster girl for redistricting.

The list is dated. It is last years list. And after MANY phone calls from outraged Americans inquiring the leftist socialists on the list had DSA take the membership list off the web page.

60s peace symbol

That pretty much explains it. They're still stuck back in the 60's.
Rather than progressive, we need to refer to them as the 60's regressives. They still haven't come to maturity.

ANSWER is sponsored by communists among others.

It appears to me that the constitution has been changed. I had no idea a crowd of people could vote to impeach the President of the United States. When did this happen?

Conyers needs to go join his friend Saddam....unless of course he prefers to stay here and damage the DemocRAT party further.

With 71% of the public supporting Bush on this, you'd think that RAT party leaders would gag Conyers.

The protests are the only card they have left. The Democrat party is dieing a quick death.
They think protests are helping them. They don't understand the majority of the voters see them as Saddams henchmen - Birds of a feather.
Everything the left has ever done has turned out to be a dismal failure. Everything. They just aren't ready to admit it yet. They'll never understand where they went wrong.
