Democrat Conyers to Protesters: Impeach Bush
By Jeff Gannon
GOPUSA News
March 17, 2003

WASHINGTON (GOPUSA News) -- On Saturday, thousands of protesters once again gathered in the shadow of the Washington Monument to hear speeches against war in Iraq as well as to express support for Palestine and demand universal health care. The rally was sponsored by the leftist organization, A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).

Speakers from several other groups, including the Free Palestine Alliance, National Committee to Free the Cuba Five, and Queers for Peace and Justice took to the stage during the two-hour rally. There were calls for civil disobedience to begin Monday.

Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) addressed the crowd and urged them to "vote to impeach George W. Bush." Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, founder of International Action Center, also called for impeachment, saying that the Bush administration is "committing the worst crimes known to humanity."

After the speeches, the protesters filled the streets to march around the White House. Marchers were kept at least a block from the executive residence by barriers and mounted police. Marchers made their way in a circular route back to the National Mall, but not before passing in front of a small group of loud pro-America counter-demonstrators from the Free Republic. They waved American and Marine Corps flags and shouted slogans such as "Swim to Cuba" and "War Freed the Slaves."

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) watched the march from Pershing Park and remarked that the protesters' message was "anti-American" and "anti-Bush." He observed that the flags carried by the marchers were those of Palestine, the United Nations, and even one of Japanese Revolutionary Communist League. More than one Gay and Lesbian rainbow flag was seen among the rally participants.

King noted that the only American flags in the march were desecrated in one way or another, some with the 60s peace symbol in the blue section usually filled with stars representing the 50 states. One flag had corporate logos instead of the stars. The Iowa congressman also noticed that the supposed cross-section of Americans that opposed the war were conspicuously absent.

When asked by GOPUSA News to comment on Conyers' call for the impeachment of President Bush, King said, "Where was Conyers when we had a president who deserved to be impeached?"

Rather than progressive, we need to refer to them as the 60's regressives. They still haven't come to maturity.

"Here is the Democrats' problem: They have achieved every major goal they sought in the past 100 years. The party is losing because it won." -Peggy Noonan

Dems can't figure out what to do with themselves. The less imaginative remember "Hey man, like, we got a lot of press with the anti-war effort! Wouldn't it be groovy to try that approach again?" And so we have people making asses out of themselves with disentions that are so easily rebutted that they just end up looking like idiots (i.e. "This war is about oil.")

"We support a regime change that is long overdue," he says. "Nobody has been listening to the voices of Iraqis in America, not the Arabs, not the French ... even these peace people, who think that if we remove the sanctions things will be OK. Well, they won't be."

A Conyers staffer is working with DU right now to gauge support of Impeachment. They have been hounding his office.

I sent a few choices threads from DU to show Conyers who he is soliciting for support with direct staffer involvement.

I don't think most of them are old enough to vote. I've read posts that say they just got home from school.

I don't know what to make of that...accepting that youth by their nature are rebellious and would seek out such a site or worse, accepting the first premise then seeing the indoctrination that goes on there with "special sources" to back up any and all claims.

Everytime Conyer's name comes up I feel prompted to tell this story. 1972. Teaching Biology and Chemistry at Northern High in Detroit. Three kids jump me and beat me up in the hall because I had broken up a fight they started in the cafetreria in which they were beating up a girl.

Switch to Criminal Court (not Juvy). I have no lawyer, only a cop walking me through. Conyers is their lawyer. Put's me on the stand, accuses me of being a white racist teacher, and that I hit them first. Judge tells him to shut up, 10 days in jail, fine and a years probation.

Conyers is as slimy and criminal as they get. Until Clinton came along, I always thought he was the worst!

I saw this on c-span and the crowd sure got exicited when the speakers talked about impeaching Bush.

It has legs. My mother (a real convervative) called me a little while ago and wanted to know how to join the impeachment movement. I know that many here find that outrageous, but that is how many of the silent voices are thinking. Very disappointed in the economy and the direction the country is going.

That pretty much explains it. They're still stuck back in the 60's.

You notice that a good portion of these people are only cheering for peace cause it seems like this fashionable retro thing?

Amazing how politics merges with fashion in some people's minds.

Actuall, smallpox killed most of the natives, the rest were assimilated totally. Cuba's population is I think about 39% white, 12% black, 48% mulatto, and the rest Asian.

Oh, so Conyers wants to lead the charge against Bush? Bring it on. Conyers is one of the few public figures whose public speaking skills are worse than W's.

In his endless, semi-coherent babblings during the impeachment hearings in 1998, Conyers looked like he would fall face first on the floor after having bored himself to sleep.

"Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders is among the traitors who has said she will cheer for Iraqi victories against American troops."

Did she actually say that?

"I've heard from leftists who are say they are disgusted to see the American flag (not how it is used, just seeing it period). I have heard from leftists who said that they want to see the members of this administration dead; not by any stated action, just dead."

Not surprising. Their idol, Karl Marx, was a miserable s.o.b. who didn't care about anybody, just hated the world and everybody in it.
