Arkansas legislation against homeschoolers!

Open Letter to the Arkansas Legislature
Re: House Bill 2518

Rep. John Lewellen has decided to attack the homeschoolers who regularly outshine the publicly schooled children.

Instead of trying to figure out a way to raise the level of academic excellence in the public schools, he wants to impose even more rules and regs on the ones who are consistently outperforming the students in the government public schools.

This is just another case of SOUR GRAPES. Nice try, but no cigar.

The key word here is "quality". What is quality?

How can the you decide what defines a "quality" education? Simple. Each person decides for themselves what the meaning of "quality" is, based upon their own world view and what their values are.

How would you like someone else to decide for you, what "quality" is?

In short, Rep. John Lewellen seems to have it in his head that by placing more rules and regulations on homeschoolers, it will take away attention from his inability to think of ways to elevate the "quality" of education that PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS are receiving.

SHAME ON YOU REPRESENTATIVE LEWELLEN!!!

LET ME URGE EVERY REPRESENTATIVE TO TAKE A STAND FOR THE HUNDREDS OF HOMESCHOOLING PARENTS IN YOUR OWN DISTRICTS AND TAKE A STAND AGAINST HOUSE BILL 2518.

REPRESENTATIVES! SHOW THE PARENTS IN YOUR DISTRICTS THAT YOU BELIEVE IN THE BASIC FUNDAMENTAL AND GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO HOMESCHOOL THEIR OWN CHILD IN THEIR OWN HOME FREE FROM MORE STATE INTERFERENCE!!!

Charlene

We should quit taking this crap. We need to have us a revolution! I'm serious. Next time some liberal try's to make some freedom hindering law, lets expose em, and the American public will depose em.

Home School Legal Defence Association will stop him. The Supreme Court declared the American children are not the property of the state.

It's left wing facism through litigation.
They believe in giving people a choice. One choice. Theirs.

Support School Choice canidates. Let them know forcing their choices on us through litigation is unconstitutional.

This is unbelievable.. several years ago.. the Arkansas legislators were in contact with a state senator here in Kentucky that I knew fairly well.. at that time they were fairly knowledgable and favorable about homeschooling (the state senator from Kentucky children were homeschooled) and outcome based education. How things change.

AR RATS are really out of control. If the RATS are so concerned about children getting a quality education, then why don't they try to fix the government schools instead of demanding for more funding? Hopefully, Gov. Huckabee will veto the fascist bill if it is passed by the AR General Assembly.

His bill is so ridiculous that it probably won't garner much support. There was a woman legislator in Kentucky who constantly devised the most odious home schooling laws. People got tired of her and her efforts to destroy home schooling in KY. They voted her out of office. She was in the legislature for years, and she lost in the primary -- something apparently that is rather unusual for an incumbent.

Vote him out of office.

As long as everyone keeps turning their children over to them, they'll believe we want to take even more. 'Thank you sir, may I have another?'

Here is a more favorable story on home schooling from Massachusetts of all places. Seems parents were pulling their children from a small public school district in MA. Eight children have left since September. Why? Parents thought the education their children were getting was not challenging enough for their children and wanted something better. The school superintendent didn't care what they wanted. He wanted those kids in his school and did everything in his power to stop the exodus.

HSLDA.org stepped in and threatened a federal lawsuit. The superintendent didn't care if the district was sued, but the school committee did.

This guy should be fired. No one should be allowed to thwart a parent's desire for a better education for his child.

He wants to attack the parents and get them to enroll their kids in govt. schools which translates into more money for the govt. schools. That is the bottom line.

I'm sure the Arkansas NEA would love to have Bill, Hillary, and Jocelyn Elders teach the children.

--His bill is so ridiculous that it probably won't garner much support--

That is only true if we can keep all this out in the OPEN and then tell these idiots that we know what they are doing and we do not approve.

They may even have to find a real job!
