Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, and, of course, Belly Girl...

OH YEAH THEY HAVE TO
PAY I just saw the tape of the captured GI´s. I feel for them. I pray for them.
As a German reservist, I consider all servicemen of all NATO-members as my comrades, regardless of the position of my government in this war.
I´m mad as hell when I see these pictures from the US soldiers, I don´t want to see them manipulated by the Iraqi propaganda.
The first war I´ve seen was Gulf War I, and I was 9 years old. I still remember that I cried when I heard that captured pilots of shot-down-planes were pulled through the streets of Baghdad with bags on their heads, people spat on them. I was angry and feared for their lives. Still, I think of such acts as one of the most cruel and ashaming acts a hostile nation can do.
Today, I remembered that I have a US flag, which is now on my appartements wall, with a small black stripe for those who gave the most they could give for freedom, peace and the security of the western world - their lives.
May God bless all coalition forces, and may God protect the entire civilized world!

i'm sorry if I can't read through this whole thread but please help me clarify what I understand. Earlier I heard they were executing prisoners. Now it appears there was a firefight after a worng turn and 6 or so Americans died. They showed video of the ones who are still alive and showed video of the dead, manipulating their heads to face the camer while the camera was 'rolling'. Is this correct?
To: Michael81Dus
So when are you going to come here and become an American citizen? (es ist ein witz.)
I applaud your words and comforting thoughts.

thank you. It's nice to remember that not all Germans are against us. In fact, if it weren't for East Germany, Shroeder never would have won... anyway, thank you for your support and please try to be undrestanding if someone badmouths your country.

Probably be a good idea to just eliminate the RG now and be done with them rather than have them around to fight another day. They will be rendered impotent as soon as possible (literally), in the most efficient way that results in minimum loss of innocents. If they aren't out now, it is because we haven't been in position to do the job. Not because we don't want to, just because we aren't able. Don't hurry the pros in the execution of their work. You don't like "the boss" looking over your shoulder either.

I can´t imagine that anybody who has a heart doesn´t feel the way we do! I could have killed these guys in Frisco showing posters praising deserters!

I would never want to see such a thing either. Just can't handle it. Can only watch older WWII movies; the graphic movies today are unbearable to watch.
