Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, and, of course, Belly Girl...

RE: Missing ITN Reporter
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2878777.stm Missing ITN reporter Terry Lloyd is now thought to be dead, the news station has said.
Mr Lloyd, 51, was last seen being shot at in southern Iraq on the approach to the city of Basra.
A statement from ITN said: "We believe his body to be in Basra hospital which is still under Iraqi control."
ITN said the fate of the other two men missing from his crew was unknown.
Cameraman Daniel Demoustier, who escaped with injuries, said they were hit by "friendly fire" aimed at about a dozen Iraqi soldiers who were killed.

I'm not up to speed with the missing reporter. I'm focusing my fury on the lack of ethics of the ME journalists from Al Jazeera and showing the execution of POWs and interrogations of POWs for the arab world to see.

Tony asked Jeffrey Zaun (former POW in BAG) what message he has for the anti-war zealots.

The ITN missing reporter is from the north, yesterday.

Probably be a good idea to just eliminate the RG now and be done with them rather than have them around to fight another day. Hope they reprise the old highway of death....should have made that a tourist attraction for the Iraqis.

Major Garrett looks like he's looked evil right in the eye. He sighs between sentences like he is struggling mightily to continue with decorum.I went into the other room to watch; you're right, Garrett looked visibly rattled, as did Tony Snow. Tony looked angry as he quoted line and verse from the Geneva Convention. I'm guessing that he had seen the Al Jazeera tape on Fox's in-house system.

OH YEAH THEY HAVE TO
PAY I just saw the tape of the captured GI´s. I feel for them. I pray for them. As a German reservist, I consider all servicemen of all NATO-members as my comrades, regardless of the position of my government in this war. I´m mad as hell when I see these pictures from the US soldiers, I don´t want to see them manipulated by the Iraqi propaganda. The first war I´ve seen was Gulf War I, and I was 9 years old. I still remember that I cried when I heard that captured pilots of shot-down-planes were pulled through the streets of Baghdad with bags on their heads, people spat on them. I was angry and feared for their lives. Still, I think of such acts as one of the most cruel and ashaming acts a hostile nation can do. Today, I remembered that I have a US flag, which is now on my appartements wall, with a small black stripe for those who gave the most they could give for freedom, peace and the security of the western world - their lives. May God bless all coalition forces, and may God protect the entire civilized world!

I'm just sick. I understand..this is WAR, people will die, expect it...but it still sucks and breaks my heart. God be with these men, give them strength in their convictions, wisdom in their minds, and peace in their hearts.
To: Dog
Somebody post a link to the video. We can then decide if we want to watch it or not. I want to see it. I am going to be passing peace protestors today, and I think that it will set my mood properly if I see what these animals have done.
To: Timeout
Oh - good - I got it. Thanks.

Sky News just reported - ITN believe their missing reporter is now dead.Brokaw said the same thing a few minutes ago.
To: Dog
It shook him up.. I can imagine it, vividly. I don't want to see it. It would shake me up, badly. I don't handle highway carnage well. To know it is done on purpose, against a person who is unable to defend himself, make my blood boil.
