Sarandon was going to speak at a luncheon fund raiser ($75-a-plate) in Tampa.
Assuming the caterer gets $40 per plate, publicity, tickets and printing cost another $10 per plate, we're left with a profit of $25 per plate.
To earn $20,000 at $25 per plate, they would have to sell 800 tickets. A luncheon with 800 people present in unlikely, so the money would have been better donated directly to the charity.
The St. Petersburg Times Fund, the newspaper's philanthropic arm, was the chief sponsor of the event and was going to pay Sarandon's $20,000 speaker's fee.

The comments by Marty Perry "...our civic life is made stronger by the expression of all views, " revealed that Susan Sarandon was indeed intending to use this opportunity to blast the room with her political beliefs!
How dare she intend to preach to a captive audience like that, and on top of it, demand they sit there and take it!
Freedom of Speech.
Freedom not to Listen.

The Tampa United Way did the right thing.
Saddam Hussein believes in FORCING himself on
a captive audience too.
Susan Sarandan is exposing herself to be
a wanna-be Tyrant.

Now that she's out, I have a question. Where do I send the check?Hey, great idea!
Let's all send donations to the Tampa United Way!
Along with Thank You notes!
Anyone have an address??

Hmmmm. Your observations have me thinking.
Is Susan Sarandon the NEW Al Gore??
Until recently, Al Gore was doing the Hillary-Speak,
saying every radical comment Hillary Rodham Clinton
wouldn't DARE to utter out loud for fear of the back lash....
Is Susan Sarandon the NEW Hired Hand?
She's on a mission.
Who sent her?

When asked to comment, little Tomy Daschle said that he was "deeply concerned...concerned and disturbed and saddened."Speaking Points for the Left!
You got their number! :)

but I somehow suspected that "CoD" was just plain bad. It was. Ms. Old and Whiny just made a bad and boring miniseries worse and more tedious.
I hung in there in hopes it would start to resemble the books, but it wasted its time on the "I Claudius" stuff instead of the real meat.

Don't watch a lot of SciFi, except for "Stargate," which I think is the best science fiction series since the old Star Trek, and one of the best-kept secrets of TV. Great characters, great actors, great plots, great talking/thinking points.

In a statement Friday, Sarandon said that "considering the depletion of federal funds for community programs and the faltering economy, it is disturbing to me that the United Way is letting partisanship determine its support base.
Well Susie Q JUST WRITE A CHECK.

Yeah.
But, she can't live without a nanny, cook, maid, gardener, housekeeper, shopper, trainer, bodyguard, accountant, laywer, tennis coach, acting coach, political coach, activism coach, hair stylist, makeup stylist, plastic surgeon, teeth recapper assistant, wrinkle filler!!
Yeesh. The little people are so ungrateful!!

May I point out the other half of this to everyone? Can you remember how pissed off you were when you discovered that the United Way was HOGGING the funds collected for relief of those affected directly by September 11th? Do we know yet that they aren't still diverting HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS from where they were meant to go? Do you recall that some of the funds went to a Legal Services outfit that represented people thought to be involved with September 11th? And then we learned of the astronomical compensations being taken by some of the regional officers of United Way.
A lot of us to pledged to never again give to gargantuan charity. We wanted to know where our money was goingand how it was being spent.

I was helped out by the United Way last year when for the first time in my life, I needed some financial help. My husband's hours were being cut severely. The United Way paid my electric bill, my gas bill, gave me a phone card becasue my telephone had actually been disconnected. I am very grateful. They were fantastic. So very kind. This is a Boston suburb office that assisted me. I will never forget that. As far as Sarandon goes, why do we need to pay celebrities to inspire us to do charity work? I call my mother (the most wise woman I have ever known) if I want any life experience. Dad too. AND, I am also inspired by our troops, our patriotic fellow citizens, our president (the 1st time in my life I have felt inspired by a president). I ALSO...have a younger husband. I'm 42. He's 30. I believe the same age difference as Sarandon/Robbins......BUT, know other way is there a similarity. I do not like that woman. Never have!

She was reportedly going to be paid $20,000 by United Way for her appearance.....limo liberal Sarandan is a multi-millionaire.....IMHO she shouldn't be paid to help a charity raise money.

Best work this woman ever did was in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
And "Who Am I This Time?".
This ran on PBS's "American Playhouse", probably 15-20 years ago.
I know it sounds crazy, but this show starred Christopher Walken as an
introverted hardware store worker, Sarandon as the new-to-town school librarian....
and how these two "little people" find love while working in the community play.
And it's based on a story by Kurt Vonnegut.
Definitely a love story for folks who hate chick-flicks.

I'm disturbed by Ms. Sarandon's anti-American activism!
