This is terrible and barbaric news, but not unexpected. Pray for these fallen, whoever they may be.

March 30, 2003 -- At least one of the bodies of the four American soldiers discovered in a shallow grave was "brutalized and mutilated," Pentagon sources revealed yesterday. The corpses were unearthed in the vicinity of the "hospital" at Nasiriyah where U.S. Marines found evidence that the Iraqis had operated a torture chamber.

Oh geez, REUTERS must have missed this one

Let's see: Reuters, Amnesty International, the Vatican, Jimmy Carter, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat Party, Prof. Nicholas Di Genova, the entire Calfornia Bay Area . . .

Yep, pretty much missed by most of our moral lecturers and humanity nannies.

If you want a thread about women in combat, please start a separate thread. Please do not attempt to hijack this thread.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that a third female was among that maintenance group. But do you mean Lori Piestewa?

Ripple, Thanks for heads-up about earlier post. I looked, but when I posted missed it. Appears there are a number of posts. We should probably stick with the earliest to keep all discussions on one thread if possible. Earliest at top.

If anything good can come out of this, maybe more graphic reports of this'll dissuade a few other pretty little things from joining the military thinking it’s a cute little adventure.

I have to agree. Especially when the enemy we are fighting treat women worse than dogs -- even the women they "love".

Sio do I. I bet these animals raped her then tortured her to death while ridiculing them. Oh, what a horrible death. May both be in the arms of Jesus showered with love and may God punish those guilty for all eternity.

I'm getting confused. Are they referring to the prisoners of war that were on the video last weekend when they also showed the bodies of 6 or 7 dead soldiers? If so, why the change in numbers? This is the second time today that I have read only 2 dead as compared to last weekend's report of the 6 or 7 and I think 5 POW's. If that is the case, then they've changed that number as well. Or is this referring to a different incident altogether?

FR doesn't work that way. Threads don't have a single focus in the replies. If you want to control conversation, here's a suggestion - start your own discussion group.

We don't know who's in the mass grave or who was tortured. They could've tortured all of the prisoners, for all we know. That they would mutilate a body is no surprise. They're animals.

Inside the hospital, the shocked Marines found bloodied pieces of an American female soldier's uniform. Her name badge and American flag were missing.

I wish they would report on how they determined it is a female uniform since over 20 years ago the Army phased out female utility uniforms. Unless something changed very recently the same BDUs are issued to women and men.

They may be assuming it's a female uniform if it's a small size not normally worn by men. Or perhaps underclothes were also found but not mentioned in the article. But the uniform itself is no different.

In case you didn't notice this thread is about a female prisonor too. Bloodied unform parts were found. Surely it is not a crime to express our concern and anger at what most likely killed her. No one is interested in "hijacking this thread". Or maybe you're just plain cold hearted.

I don't think they "love" the way we do. What I mean by that is, their culture doesn't have the Romantic movement ours descends from, with the German and British poets, the "just us two forever!" sentiment we celebrate. From what I've seen, they celebrate passion, yes, but when it comes to marriage, it's all about honor, possession, and tribalism.

No, dear, you start your own discussion group about women in combat. There have been any number of threads about it this week. It's too bad you didn't do a search.

Of course, now that you've stated you intend to hijack this thread to make this about women in combat rather than about who is in that mass grave and if they were tortured, be my guest.

No, I was on threads that changed from being about who was murdered and who was tortured into threads trashing those same women who are either captured or missing, blaming them for their plight, a vicious "blame the victim" tirade. That's what I'm trying to avoid. Check out this thread for some of the responses.

That's a really interesting bit of history that I hadn't yet read about in the context of in trying to understand the radical differences in cultural mindsets. Thanks for adding it into the mix.
