Starting with blank map of the state, the court first drew in existing minority-majority districts protected by the Voting Rights Act.

Can someone explain this to me. What are minority-majority districts that are protected by the Voting Rights Act?

Frost is like a tick...

A real blood sucker. Need a good pair of tweezers to dislodge him.

I don't understand. Under what circumstance does this 21/31 apply? Just doesn't seem very democratic.

Many years ago when everyone here was a dimrat, someone in the Senate got the idea to keep one side or the other (liberal democrats vs conservative democrats) in their place by opening each session with a Bill to Relocate all the Rosebushes on the Capital grounds. After that you need 2/3 vote to suspend the rules and talk about anything other than the Rosebush Bill for the entire session. For some reason our Republican Lt Governor and Senators have kept the tradition.

I think it will get done. We need two Democrats in the senate to agree, and we have carved out two congressional seats for them to win.

The good news is that the plan will demolish Frost and Stenholm, among others, but will actually make Chris Bell's seat more secure by giving him the hispanic part of Fort Bend County.

I am a staunch Republican, but one of the only Democraps I respect is Stenholm....he is as or MORE conservative than some of our professed Republicans, such as Kay Bailey Hutcheson.......Don't put him in the same sentence as that POS Frost......!

Yes. You pick up quickly. It was an effort putting this list together. I have a dozen or so with no flags but sure it doesn't hurt if they're pinged again. I usually don't get complaints.
