Jumpin Jim is a liar. His deal to change parties was set before the election, and had nothing to do with any pressure from any Pubbie. He deceived the voters of Vermont who should have recalled the donkey, and now he has the nerve to threaten the Republicans?

I admit that Vermont is a liberal state, but someone had to vote him in on a conservative ticket that included his backing a tax cut and the overturning of a social security system that has had elders locked into liberal control for many years. And you both know how liberals hate to lose these type of issues so much that they would never vote anyone in in their lockstep style.

In the excerpted part of the article, it suggest Voinovich and Snowne are being "villified." I don't see any evidence of that by and large.

Postie Helen Dewar has always been a faithful mouthpiece for the Democrat Party. Her stuff is real subtle, but if you've followed her over time, it becomes patently obvious.

Yeah I doubt Vermont (or any state) is bereft of conservatives. Actually from what I heard, the just elected Governor Jim Douglas is fairly conservative. He ran against Leahy, maybe it's time for him to retire Jumping Jim in 06.

Jeffords must be a total idiot. His only legacy will be that of a traitor.

Maybe Olympia J. Snowe and George V. Voinovich are in talks with Jeffords to become full rats?

Maybe not full rats, but full Independents. Either way, the rats win. And don't rule out John McCain as the ringleader of a possible group exodus. The Jumper may be correct about this.

....and if it comes to pass, conservatives will blame everybody but themselves as Tom Daschle takes back control.

A very ham-fisted attempt by the Club for Growth and their media firm Red Sea LLC. Accomplished absolutely nothing.

How do you know? Why would Democrats be letting Jeffords give the Saturday address? Why would Jeffords be threatening Republicans if it did not have any effect? The Democrats are afraid the Republicans will cave under pressure from Bush and help for Club for Growth. That is why Jeffords is making this threat. These adds are working, the "mainstream media" is saying they are backfiring. Do you truly believe the "mainstream media."

He's not only a traitor, but is the dumbest senator and believe me that covers a lot of idiots!

Byrd-Brain has to be one of the biggest embarassments to the democRATs along with the screeching lunatic Shrillery.

Rush was talking about Jeffords this morning. He said that he couldn't understand why an "independent" was giving the response for the "democrats". Then he went on to explain (to those who don't understand), that there is NO SUCH THING AS AN INDEPENDENT!! It was great!!! Shoots Jeffords comments to smitherines!!
