I've had it with illegal aliens, illegal immigration, and the complicit attitude of US immigration policy!
My 16 year old has been looking for a summer job for the last 3 months, what he's found has been surprising. Not only are there no summer jobs available, there are no jobs available, period, for someone with no experience.
So you say he's not looking hard enough? That the jobs are there, you just have to find them. HA!
All the entry level, low skill jobs that would normally be taken by teenagers and young adults during the summer are being taken by illegal immigrants, at least here in Texas. The few places that don't hire illegals have to contend with 10 or more applicants for each open position.
So who is this hurting you ask? Just a few teenagers who will be back in school in a couple of months? Just a few teenagers that will contribute little to the overall economic picture? WRONG!
You know the answer. It's hurting everyone. Teenagers would spend almost every penny they earned, contributing immensely to the overall economic health of the US. They would be in the malls, movie theaters, and restaurants spending their hard earned pay, leaving their parents free to spend their money on something else.
The illegal aliens? They used to maintain a low profile. Now, they don't bother. They can be seen everywhere; mowing lawns, planting trees, roofing & framing houses, working at the lube shack, pouring concrete, gathering at several official and unofficial day worker hang-outs in the mornings (when it would be extremely easy for immigration to swoop in and arrest them.)
Where you don't and won't see them is out spending their money (except for at Wal-Mart.) You don't see them at Bennigans, Chilis, Tony Romas, Cinemark, the mall, car dealerships, etc.
Know why?
They don't have any money to spend on the US economy because they're sending everything except a small subsistence back to Mexico.
The illegals are not here to help us or the US economy. Anyone that says they are here to take jobs that US citizens don't want is being disingenuous.
They're siphoning off millions of dollars a year from the economy. Not only by taking jobs, but a host of other ways; education benefits, medical assistance, government assistance, thievery, robbery, drug dealing, you name it, they're involved in it.
And what is the Department of Homeland Security doing about this? They're putting on a dog and pony show.
They're outlining major new methods of monitoring ports of entry, airports, etc. with biometrics, fingerprinting, radar, facial recognition technology, and who knows what else, while at the same time doing nothing to monitor thousands of miles of open space where, apparently, it is relatively easy to cross into the US.
It seems to me that simple reconnaissance flights over that vast unmonitored territory would be able to identify these border violations and put a stop to, or at least slow, this illegal invasion of our country.
The Department of Homeland Security is largely ignoring the issue. Illegal entry into the US continues unabated across our borders.
It makes me sick.
What can we do about it? Other than mew weakly and post articles like this on the large wasteland that is the internet?
Contact your elected officials and let them know what you're thinking. Let them know you will hold them accountable. It's all in our hands.

Agree with you that mechanization would help, however if we dried up the source of undocumented cheap labor, don't you think the farms would mechanize on their own? Same is true for all successful business, if a commodity is inexpensive (be it energy, labor water etc) there's no economic advantage to using it efficiently. When the supply is reduced that's when you see efficiency come into play. Look at the auto industry , when gas was cheap you had the gas guzzler cars, in the 70s with the oil shortages, we first saw economy cars.
In the case of labor, as long as we have people willing to work in slave like conditions (because anything in the U.S. is better than the turd-world) you have business all to happy to employ people with low wages & no benefits. Problem is, these corporations have money and can buy politicians who will keep the supply of cheap , slave-like labor flowing into the country.
Absolutely!!! Most people defending illegals seem to be business owners that employ them, or liberals who deep down don't think they're being affected. The truth is that just as a rising tide lifts all boats, so a falling tide lowers ALL boats.
The native-born American who would have worked fast food in the past for $8.00/hr , now can't get a job at McDonalds for more than $5.50/hr. He then starts working at a factory for $10.00/hr, he's happy, and the owners happy because in the past maybe that factory job paid $20.00/hr. This goes on and on up the food chain, the net effect is that everyone's wages are lowered. We won't even get into the problem that with wages in some jobs being lower than welfare or unemployment, some people make out better not working.
Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) -- Enforcement
The President's 2003 Budget increases the INS budget for enforcement by $1.2 billion, for a total of $5.3 billion, including the resources necessary to implement the Entry-Exit visa system. These resources will enhance key INS missions related to homeland security, including border patrol, inspections, and the implementation of a technologically advanced system for monitoring the entry and exit of foreign visitors. Key goals include:
Additional Personnel. The INS will more than double the number of border patrol agents and inspectors on the northern border. INS will also install integrated information systems to ensure that timely, accurate and complete enforcement data is transmitted to INS agents and other border security agencies operating in the field.
Entry-Exit Tracking System. The INS will implement a new entry-exit system to track the arrival and departure of non-U.S. citizens. This new system will dramatically improve our ability to deny access to those individuals who should not enter the United States, while speeding the entry of routine, legitimate traffic.
I found this gem on the White House web site. No mention of increasing our southern border personnel. I don't know if this has even happened. The PR is over 18 months old.
Yeah probably some of the big farms who could afford it. I'd be willing to help the small farmer, maybe with interest free loans or something similar.
One reason they don't is the illegal alien lobby would put enormous pressure on Congress, probably even call it racist. The interests of the American people obviously don't count for anything anymore.
"They are not working without documentation. It may not be authentic and they may be paid through a subcontractor but no employer will risk the fines by knowingly hiring a illegal."
Simply not true.
As long as an employer has plausible deniability, through forged documentation etc, they will and do turn a blind eye.
"If you think the government is helping foriegners get businesses that natives can't get please name the program or just admit to predjudice on the subject."
Ok, here ya go:
The Latest from Capitol Hill: In October, 2000, Congress increased the annual allotment of H-1B visas for foreign, high-tech workers to 195,000 a year for three years beginning in FY 2001. The Senate passed the increase by a vote of 96-1 and the House passed it by voice vote.
These bloated visa numbers are in effect through FY 2003, provided Congress does not extend the increase by another year. After October 1, 2003 the annual allotment of H-1B visas will return to 65,000.
Provisions that required these jobs to first be offered to American citizens were removed.
Bush-Cheney are complicit with illegal immigration. So are you going to vote Democrat? Well, then there will be even more illegal immigration.
It's funny how little democracy has to do with the will of the people.
No, but I am going to write in Tom Tancredo during the primary. And if Bush continues to do nothing on these borders, you might see more than a few conservatives go fishing on election day.
It's going to be closer than he thinks.
It's going to be hit slowly but surely on FR, but it'll seem to go forever. Even the ocean won't truly stop it, just make it steam a little......
Last year there was a lava thread like this that had over 2000 posts. This one hasn't even begun yet lol.
Heh heh heh. If I'm thinking about the same tread that was the Grand Central Station for a Grassroots effort to stop Bush's 245(i) amnesty bill from passing and I think that thread clocked out at around 2800 (and it would have gone higher IF...). Our work did pay off, at least in the Senate and we made more than a few Republican representatives sweat about their decision on that amnesty bill. A year and 2 million illegals later I wonder if we could assemble that same level of influence now.
Tacky. And you lie.
I checked out your excellent debating...nice Storm Front graphics.
