I don't know if she's been disowned, but she's hardly ever spoken about.

You are confusing John Isakson with John Mitnick, who ran against Cythnia McKinney in 1996. Billy McKinney called Mitnick a "racist Jew" during the campaign.
This is John Isakson's third try at a statewide contest in GA. In 1990, Isakson lost to Zell Miller for the Governorship, 53-45. He ran for the Senate in the GOP primary in 1996. He made abortion the main issue during the primary campaign. It gave him no political gain for he lost to Guy Milner, 53-47. Isakson now thinks 3 times the charm.

Isakson is Methodist, not Jewish. Perhaps you're thinking of John Mitnick, who ran against Kabul Cindy a number of years ago and got a raw taste of her and daddy's rabid anti-Semitism. Isakson would've probably won that contest succeeding Newt in any event, solely due to money, no one else could compete. The only other viable candidate was Christina Jeffrey, whose claim to fame was creating a flap as House historian over wanting to include the Nazi viewpoint in a Holocaust course (though was scarcely as bad as it sounds -- wouldn't one WANT to include it to show how misguided it was ? I've read 'Mein Kampf' and it's fairly clear that its author isn't entirely playing with a full deck). Newt is a classic "PC" move sacked her, one reason why she was running... Great stuff... :-P

I cannot imagine why I thought that Issakson was Jewish then. Is he a convert?
Wasn't there a Jewish mayor of Atlanta named Sam Massell?

Wow thanks for posting this. I wish he'd post more of how he stands on issues, but apparently he is anti-income tax, pro-business, pro-capitalism, anti-protected race classes, pro-hard work, pro-life, pro-gun, anti-liberal. Once I get more of this verified, I might send him a Ben Franklin or two to help out his campaign and maybe volunteer for him.

Once I get more of this verified...Mr. Cain, in his own words--
( And FWIW, I'm behind him 100%- he is so much better than those tired old Republican retreads they keep trying to run... )

I've been leaning towards Isaakson but am intrigued with Cain's campaign. For people familiar with Georgia's politics, what liklihood is there that a black Republican would win statewide? I've heard that statewide races often break down by race, and if this is the case, fewer traditionally white Democrats might vote Republican should Cain run. I hate to factor in the subtle influence of race on people's voting behavior but it's a reality. Any Georgians like to sound off?

Cool. Citizen Cain!

After going to Cain's website and watching the video, my reaction is:
1. Cain is a talented businessman who bravely defies the liberal bent of the african-american community
2. He has a bold pro-free market message
3. Cain is a classic case of a successful businessman who believes he can translate that success to politics. This is where I fear he is wrong. I wish it were true that the electorate would be receptive to the same language that moves business audiences. They aren't. Businessmen-turned-politicians learn this the hard way (ie: Steve Forbes, Michael Huffington). Cain must win a few races at the local/state level (GA state positions) in order to learn the ropes of political elecitons and the language that moves a broader political audience. Beyond the economic conservative faithful, Cain's message will fall on deaf ears. At this point, I think he's going for too much, too soon. As eager as I am in having a minority Republican in the Senate, a Cain loss in the Senate election will set back the effort considerably.

The GA Senate race is going to be very interesting especially if Herman Cain wins the GOP primary. Because we could be looking at a black vs. black Senate matchup. The RATS are trying to encourage GA Attorney General Thurbert Baker and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin to run for the Senate. Both are black and popular with the GA electorate. With Herman Cain running for the Senate, we shall see if the GOP minority outreach program can gain any political traction at all.

MLK III came to my school (it's a 50% minority population) in VA last year. He turned his "speech" to the kids into an anti-war message and an anti-Republican platform. After the speech I was very suprised by how many kids thought what he did was very inappropriate. There's hope yet...

To my knowledge, Isakson is not a convert.
"Wasn't there a Jewish mayor of Atlanta named Sam Massell?"
Yes. He was the last Caucasian Mayor, serving from 1970-74. He is still living.

Good question, but I'm not sure she's interested. Alveda King was last elected to office (as a 'Rat) in 1980. She would likely be in John Lewis's Congressional seat, and even with her name, it isn't likely she'd pose a threat. :-(

The GOP needs to support Cain if they ever wish to attract more minority voters. Regardless of his message or his worth, most will see him as a sellout and a traitor to his race and will not be swayed. That's the prevelent liberal mindset.
To: Bloody Sam Roberts
Still there he'll be. The only black senator (unless Obama wins here in IL) a Republican.
