Dems plan to undermine America to beat Bush

Democrats plan to undermine public confidence in President George W. Bush by challenging his credibility and raising doubts about America, sources within the party tell Capitol Hill Blue.

A multi-pronged attack against Republicans and the President will focus not only on economic issues, but question American values, raise doubts about how this country is viewed by other nations and question the patriotism of Bush and his party.

The extensive campaign, developed by senior Democratic consultants and party leaders, was launched last week with attacks on the Bush economic plan by Democratic presidential hopeful Rep. Richard Gephardt.

In coming weeks, Democratic elected officials will question the President’s intentions on the pending war with Iraq. Writers and broadcasters friendly to the Democratic cause have already been provided talking points suggesting the war is about oil, not terrorism. “The talking points were developed before the end of last year and sent out to operatives and friendly media,” one Democratic consultant confided. “No Democratic member of Congress will question the President’s patriotism openly but we will use the media and other surrogates to raise doubts.”

Capitol Hill Blue obtained a copy of the talking points when the Democratic National Committee sent them to a news outlet recently acquired by CHB’s parent company. The talking points outline a strategy to raise public doubts of the President’s real intentions, including: --Saying the war is about oil and will be fought to benefit oil companies that have long supported Bush and the Republican party;

--Claiming the Bush administration has “manufactured” evidence against Saddam Hussein and used that evidence to encourage Britain and other allies to join the American fight against Iraq;

--Suggesting a wartime economy is the only way the administration can revive the country’s lagging economic situation.

“It is clear that the current approval ratings of the administration are tied directly to strong American feelings toward traditional values,” the talking points say. “To counter this, doubt must be raised as to America’s true position within the world community and the true intent of the Bush administration in waging war.”

Some Democrats admit privately they are uneasy with the party strategy to undermine American values in an attempt to get Bush.

“My boss doesn’t want anything to do with it,” one senior Senate aide told Capitol Hill Blue on Monday. “You don’t undermine this country to win elections.” Others, however, are willing to try anything to put the White House and Congress back under Democratic control. “The real war isn’t in Iraq,” one Democratic consultant said. “It’s right here at home, at the ballot box in 2004.”

Among the other points Democrats hope to make in the coming weeks:

--Both President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney are controlled by oil and defense industry special interest groups.

--The war on terrorism is a failure because Osama bin Laden is still at large.

--America is unprepared for another terrorist attack because of White House preoccupation with Iraq. --War will increase the country’s economic woes. --Bush will be forced to raise taxes to finance the war.

“It’s time to take the battle to the people and make them understand just how dangerous George W. Bush’s policies are to the future of America,” the talking points conclude.

Democratic sources say the talking points were developed by Democratic Chairman Terry McAuliffe, former Clinton campaign strategist James Carville, Senate Majority Leader Daschle and former House Democratic Leader Gephardt.

“This is a classic, Jim Carville, scorched earth campaign,” crows one DNC staffer. “Take no prisoners. That’s how you win elections.” Democratic party spokesmen would not return phone calls seeking comment on this report.

Previously posted at the link above. War script pre-written by the DNC, still followed by the press....still undermining America to defeat Bush.

This article was forwarded to hundreds of press outlets, pols and pundits in the past few weeks. It was never picked up by the press, never sent around the world while the President was traveling abroad, never appeared as a headline or question of the day on a news channel.

This story was spread by the press around the world in a day. This story undermined America and the President on the world stage. This story was later retracted by the author. Most of the press has yet to follow suit:

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender comes up and says "Hey pal, what will it be?"

The horse orders a beer.

A few minutes later, John Kerry walks in and sits at the bar. The bartender walks up and says "Hey pal, cheer up. Why the long face?"

I'll stop if you guys will donate and get us over our fundraising goal

Sorry about the reprint. I phoned a few Intel Committee Senators this morn and they hadn't yet heard about the retraction, or the press DNC pre-war talking points. Doug was removing articles from the CHB website yesterday.

Bttt. America should know what America's press and a major American party has been doing to America's war effort and America's authority on the world stage for partisan power's sake.

Imho.

Thank you for posting this. If word can get to Doug Thompson or to Matt Drudge, it would be useful if the exact text of the Democrat memo was posted on Drudge -- as is and where is. No commentary is needed; capable readers can figure it out for themselves. (It wouldn't do half bad either to find out who was on the mailing list for the circulation of this memo.)

As for finding McAuliffe, Carville, Gephardt and Daschle behind this, I am not surprised. It's like the story about the scorpion and the turtle, in which as they are both dying in the middle of the stream the scorpion says, "It is my nature."

Well, that quartet of Democrats are all scorpions. They are trying to kill America to help themselves -- which makes no sense because all Americans, even Democrats, are in danger if America is brought low. And yet, they sting the nation, and they do not care whether the wound is fatal. Because it is in their nature.

I passed this info on to a few very interested members of the Intel Committee...and read the riot act to my Dem. Senators, and Sen. Hagel's office this morn.

This is war. You know our troops are doing awesome work daily across Iraq. The Dems-press can't handle three months of steady, successful reconstruction of a decimated nation. They certainly can't handle four years of leading America.

This is war.

Thank goodness for the net.

Terry Moran (Moron?) and George Steponallofus on GMA need to see these, big time. They were gloating and really carping on how "Bush lied to the American people."

Irony: the press knowingly repeating false stories about someone who inadvertantly gave false information. Which crime is greater? Should be obvious.

Because it is in their nature.

So true. Perhaps someone who knows Doug Thompson can get him to post the original memo. I doubt he will. Would you with this DNC?

The press war coverage, the Congressional record, the quotes from Dem. Senators make a very strong case against the Dems and the press. The press followed these talking points. The press war coverage didn't match reality. It still doesn't.

Sen. Graham, I know, parroted these talking points - a man with access to classified intel, a Presidential candidate.

It's news when the Dems-press continuing daily, inaccurate coverage of the war in Iraq undermines our troops and threatens national security.

This is bad big time for them. Do they think Americans like the pro-racist, anti-family views by the Supreme Court? What makes them think they can force Americans to change?

Are they nuts?

P.S. - I sent it to all my Dem friends who work at union shops.

I've been projecting that the Rats would engage in a very dirty campaign even if it tarnished their own candidate in the process. And then at the last minute if they aren't winning in the poles, they will substitute somebody who has managed to stay above the fray.

Hillary will be the substitute if polls say she can win. if not they will substitute someone else.

I see moveon.org and the other garbage sites are already producing their ads. Fox just put one on the air and it's going to p!$$off military families to no end. this may backfire big time on the rats; maybe the rats will try to keep the ads on only the fringe group sites and let them do the dirty work.

Perhaps Hillary is getting lots of cash from overseas book sales. sort of a global Jim Wright scam.

And Clinton is panhandling in Europe too, and knowing the European far left, they are putting as much cash as possible into the Clinton coffers in the hopes of getting their plant into the white house in order insure that the US is brought down a notch.
