An Army Islamic chaplain, who counseled al Qaeda prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, naval base, has been charged with espionage, aiding the enemy and spying, The Washington Times has learned.

Capt. James J. Yee, a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., was arrested earlier this month by the FBI in Jacksonville, Fla., as he arrived on a military charter flight from Guantanamo, according to a law-enforcement source.

Great list - I read "Hatred's Kingdom" by Dore Dold, former Israeli ambassador....it should be on every red blooded American's reading list.

Basically, the crazy Muslims (Wahabbi's mostly) will not be satisfied until we are all bowing to the East five times a day, or we are dead. That goes for all non-Muslims ....it's a war folks. Get used to it!

What is interesting about this thing...Capt Yee was highly reguarded by the Army because he helped to funnel US Army Muslims into the right direction and stay conviced of their mission. He kept finding ways to keep this population (and it grows each month) motivated and in line with their military training. He was basicaly a good guy...they put him in front of the cameras...he talked pro-US, pro-Army. When they sent him down to Gitmo, he was in the limelight with the press. He helped to adjust the attitude of the prisoners and seen as a positive influence.

I don't think he went bad...rather...he probably made a lot of notes, and when he left...he took them with him. The Army probably reguards these notes as classified information. They may have a point, but I doubt that they ever brought this guy in and said everything you write while here...is classified. They probably kept thinking...this guy is a chaplin, thus we aren't worried about what he thinks. And as he gets on the plane...some nimwit commander probably wakes up and thinks...this guy has all of those personal notes which might be classified.

The outcome of this...they will certainly take this guy through the cleaners and dump him out of the Army. The negative though...is that a lot of Muslims in the Army will see this as a vendata against them...having trusted the chaplin. This will echo across the US and into public communities. This is not a case the Army will come out looking good on.

Another Muslim hates the USA? What a shock. Their devotion to the Islamic culture expoused by the Qu'ran is much greater than any loyalty to America or our culture.

Jesus... This is a serious set of charges - On a totally unrelated note, I wonder if there was any connection between this guy and the D.C. Sniper suspect, that mohammed guy...

I believe you are wrong on all counts except the last one. The army will absolutely not come out looking good.

But that will probably be because they allowed a traitor to infiltrate back into their ranks.

One of today's news reports indicated that..."Yee carried detailed maps of the prison camp in Guantanamo, showing where detainees were held." when he was captured.

Clearly, those are not the kind of notes he would need top help them spiritually.

As to his playing the game good...meaning all the right comments, etc. Well of course he would. If he was a good operator/player, then this would be exactly what he would do to keep scrutiny and suspicion away from himself while he went about his work.

Time will tell and we shall see.

If he is guilty of espionage and treason...I hope thye hang him.

From what I've heard on news reports tonight, the military were not the ones to figure this out. It was Customs who confiscated whatever he had, and then held him, when he got back to Miami.

If it's true that he's a traitor, then unfortunately it sounds as if he could have done a lot of damage without anyone catching on in time.

Freeper Eva has suggested the same thing early on about that connection and has been following up on research off and on throughout the thread.

Interesting and potentially important angle.

And purple monkies might fly out of my butt.

That would be more likely than the scenerio you describe. If the Army is willing to place this guy under arrest and toss him in the brig, they have a lot more to go on than the paranoia of some pudding-brained commander (of which, I grant, the Army has thousands.)

Considering how radioactive the accusation of being "anti-Muslim" is in our PC government these days I am more inclined to believe that they gave him every benefit of the doubt and then some before taking action.

Too little... too late...

Weep not, Blue Scourgey....

We all know how you feel....

Nothing like seeing a boner with your name on it and being taunted for your carelessness.

My most recent experience was on a thread where the discussion was about landing a 727 on a desert, which I misspelled dessert -- and had to put up with jokes about STOL on pastries for a while.

If this is true...it was the customs guys who went through the baggage and found it....it would be rather unusual case. Having been military and traveled internationally numerous occassions....once they know you are military, they don't usually do an extensive check of your bags. I'd like to hear the entire account of how they arrested. It is also curious that this arrest took place earlier in the month, and just now hitting the press...why the delay? The only logical reason was Army Intelligence reviewing all of the documents and then deciding that they were classified. The amusing thing in this little episode...is when the Gitmo prisoners realize that the Army arrested this guy...they won't be quiet as cooperative. He had gained their trust and helped in the interrogations. I suspect that the Army may want this episode to go quickly and quietly away.

...why the delay?

Nearly all of the arrests in the WOT have been announced late. Padilla's, for example. The reason is that you don't want your enemy to know who've you've got until he gets a lot of bogus info from that person's "replacement." Or until you get a few mails and calls from your prisoner's handlers. Not to mention, you want time to interrogate him before the ACLU and CAIR try to get involved.

According to the articles, Yee had been under surveillance for quite some time, so toting the papers out of the country wasn't the tipoff. Not to mention there seems to be some reason to believe he has actually been observed passing info on to others.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's "Mr. Unnamed Source" in a number of screeching-harpy articles on Gitmo from the likes of the UK Guardian.

Unless of course he was discovered based on items learned from the capture of say, Syrian or Ansar operatives, or intercepted messages concerning people the bad guys shouldn't have known had been captured yet, etc.

As for the prisoner's cooperation levels, by some accounts it hasn't been very good of late. And if one guy is helping the prisoners coordinate their chat, the info would be vey "cooperative" but no doubt misleading anyway.

Sending him off to a Navy brig is an indication that this isn't just some unfortunate misunderstanding.

BUT, on the more POSITIVE side, here's another possibility that I don't think has been brought up :

Maybe some recent additions to our little collection of terrorists at that brig haven't been cooperative. Given the nature of what those jokers were apparently planning to do, I don't blame them. Maybe we want them to be more cooperative. That particular cell of people has been in the news of late with Shukrijumah sightings popping up too, indicating there may be a live al Qaeda team on the loose.

As for those detained, I'm sure they would find it much easier to get comfortable and chatty with a nonwhite Muslim chaplain who is accused of being in their camp, and who faces serious charges.

Why send an Army chaplain to a Navy brig, the very same one as is housing some of the very worst of the worst we've caught so far?

It's getting to the point where Islam has to be outlawed altogether in this country. It's not a religion, it's a terrorist organization utterly dedicated to the destruction of the West. Round up all its adherents and send them to Saudi Arabia. ....and yes, that includes Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Put a Quran on the floor, tell each of them to step on it. Those who refuse are Muslims.

I would refuse. I am agnostic.

Lee and the Sniper (Mohammed) both served in the Gulf War then. Wonder if they were in the same unit.

Have always speculated (gut feeling) that the Mohammed was connected to the anthrax mailings (as the mailer(s) only), didn't get paid and the sniper scenario was their revenge.

Sure is interesting.

As always, it takes a spy to catch a spy.

Could it be Malvo who mentioned Yee but shouldn't really know about him?? Obviously, Yee is connected to a Mosque. Which one??

Mohammed Allen, the sniper, (now age 42), was at Ft. Lewis in 1993. He was discharged in April 26, 1994 but went on to serve in the National Guard for about another year.
