I know a girl who has had mental stress and problems for a long time. Like many addicts, street drugs are one way of self-medicating (although they provide their own new problems too).

She was seeing a doctor who had been prescribing xanex and he told her that continued use wasn't going to improve her situation and he refused to write her another prescription. She told him that she would just go to something else to numb herself and even mentioned heroin. He didn't change his position and she did take up the needle again.

Even Jeb's daughter found that her doctor would not renew her prescription to xanex. Her strategy became to forge prescriptions and attempted to fill them.

No, but the patient could disclose it: "...Folks, here the story: through (whatever circumstances) I find I've possibly become addicted to (whatever) because of (however) and I'm going to be away from my show for (a period of time) doing what I can to beat this problem before it gets 'way out of hand. Because that's the right thing to do...". Or some such.

You have to admit that has a lot more positive spin than: "...what you've been reading about in the papers for the past week is at least partially true, and i've been hiding things, and I'm still not admitting the whole story on advice of counsel, and i'm gonna go to rehab again, etc..."

Pretty cheezy. I can't believe the Democrat presidential wannabes, guys who would like to occupy the world's most powerful political office, are sniping at a talkshow host, a glorified disk jockey, calling him out by name. If you ask me, it lowers them and raises Rush.

This is the big leagues as Rush says, he can take it.

I actually thought it was pretty funny, afterall, Rush has been beating up on the poor French-Looking guy, you know.

Mike,
Thanks for putting in writing what I have been thinking for about a day and half now. I understand how he could have become addicted to pain killers and if I had the money he has I would have feel much sooner.
Kinda funny Rush is Addicted to pain killers and I am addicted to Rush its gonna be a tough 30 days for me as well.

So I pray for him even more since he asked for my prayers

Thanks
Mike

I would think that a physician that would see the situation and refuse to renew such a prescription would offer alternatives and referrals to groups/organizations that could offer assistance.

I believe that he would realize some culpability by knowing that she stated she was considering illegal drug usage and that he would do what he could to prevent that (notifying agencies that would take her case from there to prevent it).

Her not seeking other avenues of help (second medical opinions, helplines, walking in to a clinic or Church and uttering the word "help", etc.) was her own decision and, addiction or not, she stands responsible and accountable for her own actions and the resultant consequences. Same thing holds for Bush's daughter.

Oh I don't think it hurts Rush at all -- in fact it must be very gratifying for Rush knowing that he's important enough in the minds of potential future US presidents that they'd take cheezy potshots at him. It's a testament to Rush's importance. My point is that the Dem presidential wannabe's are stooping when they take shots at a talk show host. It's good for Rush and bad for them. DU types love to hear it, of course, but I think anyone who can look at things objectively would have to say that Kerry's and the others' statements have been unpresidential.

I, too, did not understand the gravity of my addiction 4-6 years ago. 4-6 years ago,

LAZ,

Uggh Ohhh! Rush is not a bad addict you are!!!!!!! These people on these threads think Rush isn't a drug addict. He is not a junkie! He was addicted to drugs he initially got from a pharmacy. They can't even grasp he was scoring illegal drugs and committing FELONIES. Rush is a good addict. You are a bad addict. A maggot infested etc. I, because I used street drugs, am maggot infested too. Bad addict - Good addict. Get it?

Shortly you will find out that all Rush (a Jew) has to do to beat this is figure out which church he is going to handle snakes at! Run down the aisle and BOOM saved! (Not to say this isn't possible just not probable) You will find out that Rush is a "good addict" and therefore can be in the company of "good people". He is not a real junkie.

Some people here think Rush can WILL his way through this! By force of WILL he will beat this addiction. They can't see that he subverted his morals, made illegal drug deals, risked his freedom, his position in society, his health, and probably lost his hearing to this addiction. All through strength of WILL. He isn't a real junkie, no he is special. If he thinks this, as you know, he will be toast.

These people do not get it and I pray for them that they never have to.

Good luck and drop me a line.

I did not receive the meds illegally in the sense that I bought them off of the street or anything like that; I was given all of the prescriptions by doctors.

However, what I did is considered illegal, being that I *did* intentionally lie to different doctors in order to keep a steady supply of the narcotics available to me.

How does one become addicted on a pharmacy prescription?

Quite honestly, it's amazing how shrewed I was when it came to acquiring a legitimate prescription; looking back at it now, it's almost surprising to see how very easy it was, and how little effort it took.

I, too, am a Rush addict. The TV news/liberal press is too infuriating & Rush lightens the day, most of the time. I've been trying to fast sweets for 40 days. Only on day 5 and find myself wanting a "fix" to deal with the Rush thing. LOL

After taking pain killers for three years, my withdrawl process really, really su*ked.

About a year ago, I had a particulary bad gall bladder attack for which my doc perscribed a similiar narcotic for the pain. I was very surprised (and very thankful!) to find that for some reason, I am no longer able to tolerate this type of drug; the extreme vomiting and nausea I had at that time were simply unbearable.

No matter how we paint it...spin it...this is a major hit. The ratz are dancing in the streets. Yes, there are several tacks to take...medical use...unbearable pain...etcetera. The problem is it isn't the use of the drug...it's Rush's response that will give validity to the housekeeper's claims that he threatened her... wanted her husband, an admitted or convicted drug dealer I believe, to help procure more than his allotment.

My prayers are with Rush and if anyone can fall into this cesspool and come out smelling like a rose it's him, BUT at the street level this creates LOADS of serious problems for people like me who argue the conservative cause.

My only comment at the momment is "Yup. Rush had been falling to the dark side of the left for years. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to find he's been having illicit sex in a closet off the EIB air studio. If he has, he should become the darling of the ratz."

One of the reasons I work for the cause where I do - local watering holes and such - is because I have too much baggage to run for office. Not drugs nor booze nor things like that but mostly financial problems I've never been able to resolve. I finally decided to just put it all behind me and do what I could for folks I believe held views similar to mine. Lately that's becoming a difficult proposition, and the Rush problem isn't gonna help. <prisoner6

It shows how much people understand about this problem when they basically say he will beat this by force of will.

People who say that haven't even read the First Step.

The First Step is to admit we are powerless over our addiction and that our lives were unmanageable.

That is in direct conflict with the attempt to beat this by force of will.
