The Churwide Assembly starts today! My son and I will drive down to the hotel this afternoon to serve as general volunteers and as volunteers for Word Alone. I hope to blog regularly as well as post on FR. I know there will be at least one other Freeper there...anyone else?
We'll keep you posted!

Thanks for the effort.
FYI, check your post #41 URL.

My husband & I watched a good portion of Monday night's drawn-out session via the ELCA live webcast. Though it caused us to repeatedly bang our heads on the desk, it was strangely mesmerizing, making it difficult for us to look away. Our favorite moment was when the obviously frustrated gentleman moved to adjourn, and PB Hanson responded (IIRC) wait a minute, let's talk about the meaning of adjourn (or do you mean the meaning of is, Mark?).
As we watched, I couldn't shake the feeling that if Monday night's CWA session were to continue into the wee hours, we would see Alderman Dickie Mell standing on a desk shouting, "Now will you recognize me?" at Mark Hanson. (Apologies to all for that obscure reference to the legendary 1987 Chicago City Council all-nighter in which Eugene Sawyer was finally elected at 4:01am to succeed deceased Mayor Harold Washington.)
You, your son, and all in Orlando are in our prayers as this week continues. We admire your stamina. Keep up the good work, and please keep us updated if you are not too exhausted!

I was so concerned about getting the spelling right on the first part that I did not notice I mixed the letters up on the second!
Please pray that we get this postponement!
Have they consulted the Good Book around 1 Corinthians?
Just wanted to add my thank you for your reports on the Assembly. It has made me aware of the other goings on in Orlando, besides the sexuality issues.
Thank you. I wish my posts were longer and more eloquent, but I have a bit of a short attention span and we volunteers have been kept running!
Well, renewing worship passed with 70+ percent voting in favor.

On the passage of the Renwing Worship:
Darn, I was hoping they'd bring back the old 1937? Lutheran Hymnal. It has real music in it.
At my Dad's Lutheran funeral, I wanted Ancient of Days, and Lift High the Cross-the Pastor advised against it. At the funeral, I realized it was because nobody seems to know those songs anymore.
Yet, at my Aunt's Lutheran funeral at the same Church, everyone knew Eagle's Wings (I just hate that song).
That is a real dealbreaker for me, if you know what I mean!!!
It seems that over 70% of our "voting members" are real ninnies without the heart or guts to stand up to the feminazis, or to stand up for the true Lutheran and orthodox catholic liturgical heritage. This is the same kind of utter ninniness that would allow the islamoNazis to walk right in and conquer us, or would allow the New World Order to take away our our faith, our freedom, and our national sovereignty.
Lord have mercy!!!!
How about this quote I read this morning:
http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/5554194.html
ORLANDO, FLA. -- After members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) took their first tentative steps Wednesday toward potential new policies toward gays and lesbians in the church, they got snarled in disagreement and divisiveness.
But not about sexuality.
Rather, more than 1,000 members of the ELCA's Churchwide Assembly tangled for hours over a new liturgy and hymnal that could replace the venerable "Lutheran Book of Worship."
After five years of studying a revamped, more inclusive liturgy called "Renewing Worship," assembly delegates decided against delaying adoption and OK'd the plan by a 3-1 ratio.
That kind of vehemence is understandable, said the Rev. Peter Rogness, bishop of the St. Paul-area synod, the second-largest in the 4.9 million-member denomination. "The sexuality issues aren't going to be as noticeable in the pews," he said. "If a congregation has been doing [gay and lesbian] blessings, it'll keep doing that. If not, it probably won't. But a new liturgy -- that they'll notice."
My cousin belongs to an ELCA Church in the Minneapolis area, and she is very active in her Parish. She said that they haven't heard about any of these changes regarding sexuality, and worship. Apparently, not all Pastors are keeping their flocks up on the gutting of the Lutheran Church.
A thread on 'Renewing Worship', if you haven't seen it:

Is it going to make me wail, gnash my teeth, and beat my breast if I read it? Most of the ELCA news seems to be having that effect on me.
I told my Mom today that her Pastor was right for reading the tea leaves and leaving the ELCA and affiliating with the LCMC. I think her Parish has one last vote to make it official.

I believe the ALPB site will have this info as well.
