Know Mormons' beliefs before voting for them

In response to whether the public should vote for a Mormon for president, one should know what beliefs a candidate had.

Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman have Mormon roots and they have been vague about their beliefs and loyalty to the LDS church.

Mormon theology includes ideas like their priesthood brethren will become the government leaders, or future kings of the world, in a globalized theocracy, and that their male leaders will take over when a second coming of Christ occurs. They believe they are the pre-ordained leaders to rule over a coming theocratic kingdom.

Worthy Mormon males are temple attending, dressing in white with special learned handshakes, altar rituals, Masonic rites and gestures and do secretive activities different from normal society.

They believe they are the future gods of new worlds in a life after this one. They follow prophets with ever-changing doctrine and change their fictional "Book of Mormon" every time it is found to be un-politically correct.

Their women are taught they are good for breeding, to have large families.

A member of this cult is loyal to its church leaders and to whatever their modern prophets tell them is gospel, which changes at their will.

They claim to be Christian, but Mormon polytheism of many gods/goddesses in a hereafter, rituals that must be performed in their temples, garment wearing and works (not grace) that saves a person is different ideology.

It is debatable whether Mormons are Christians, and they have other scriptures special to Mormonism written by their leaders, not just the New Testament, like their Doctrine and Covenants and Book of Mormon.

To learn about them and their practices, beliefs and personal character will help us determine whether they are the future leaders of Americans. Or are they really stuck in their controversial past?

Then there is the colorful language of Napolean Dynamite:

Don: Hey, Napoleon. What did you do last summer again?
Napoleon: I told you! I spent it with my uncle in Alaska hunting wolverines!
Don: Did you shoot any?
Napoleon: Yes, like 50 of 'em! They kept trying to attack my cousins, what the heck would you do in a situation like that?
Don: What kind of gun did you use?
Napoleon: A frickin' twelve-gauge, what do you think?

Napoleon Dynamite: What the flip was Grandma doing at the sand dunes?

Randy: Napoleon, give me some of your tots.
Napoleon Dynamite: No, go find your own.
Randy: Come on, give me some of your tots.
Napoleon Dynamite: No, I'm freakin' starving! I didn't get to eat anything today.
Randy: [kicks the tots]
Napoleon Dynamite: Ugh! Gross! Freakin' idiot!

Pedro: Do you think people will vote for me?
Napoleon Dynamite: Heck yes! I'd vote for you.
Pedro: Like what are my skills?
Napoleon Dynamite: Well, you have a sweet bike. And you're really good at hooking up with chicks. Plus you're like the only guy at school who has a mustache.

Napoleon Dynamite: Just tell them that their wildest dreams will come true if they vote for you.

Pedro: Vote for me, and all your wildest dreams will come true.

Don't know and don't really care. Religion is a personal issue between the person and God.

Then WHY are you in a RELIGION forum; wasting your time?

By election day, there will even be Mormons scratching their heads, saying, "I never knew the church taught THAT!"

Flying Inman Mission Statement alert!

They believe The Constitution was divinely inspired.

That's a neat trick; since MORMONism teaches that the Founding Fathers were part of the Abominable Whore of BABYLON in their religious views!

His original mormon leader, Joey Smith was a smokeer and heavy alcohol drinker and had a bar in his living room...when he got drunk he beat up other men...

And when Joe's wife, EMMA, got a little heated up, she beat the baby (Joe's) right out of one of his 'spirit wives' she just found out about!

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 132
51–57, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 58–66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
54 And I command mine handmaid, Emma Smith, to abide and acleave unto my servant Joseph, and to none else. But if she will not abide this commandment she shall be bdestroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
56 And again, verily I say, let mine handmaid aforgive my servant Joseph his trespasses; and then shall she be forgiven her trespasses, wherein she has trespassed against me; and I, the Lord thy God, will bless her, and multiply her, and make her heart to brejoice.

Whatever HAPPENED to Emma???

Eliza was a devout Mormon.
At age 38, she became Joseph Smith's 14th plural wife (in addition to Smith's lawful wife, Emma).
In 1842, after learning Eliza was pregnant, Emma Smith beat Eliza with a broomstick and
knocked her down a flight of stairs, causing Eliza to miscarry Smith's baby.

Wow!!

I guess ol' Emma got VAPORIZED by GOD!!!

We know that multiply him thing sure didn't work out!

BTW, it is far worse than not knowing ‘the church once taught that’.

True. The question NOW is; "WHY don't they 'teach' it any more, since there has been NO word from GOD to STOP teaching it!"

I don’t expect Perry to jump in, nor Palin. Right now the only ones I see even halfway in my camp is Bachmann and Cain, but don’t know enough about them to support them yet.

I'm not claiming that authority. And its no damn business of yours what kind of underwear I wear which, at the moment, happen to be navy blue boxer shorts if it is any real concern of yours.

Your boy John Calvin was fond of beheading and burning people who disagreed with his theology. His Mather clan representatives tried to impose the same type of autocratic religious conformity in America by executing innocent people whom they accused of witchcraft. The Roger Williams model of religious freedom eventually won out and your side lost. Most of Calvin's followers in America accepted it and formed much more tolerant congregational denominations.

Some of them went so far with the tolerance that they have become intolerant again-- preaching gay marriage, abortion and political correctness as gospel.

Others are like you and are still stuck in the 17th century with your narrow intolerant dogmas. Get over it.

I didn’t say I didn’t think “a mormon” would vote across party lines for a mormon. I said that there was no evidence that Reid got a majority of the mormon vote in his election against Angle, as was suggested by the poster.

I can find no evidence for the claim, and every story that spoke about the religious issue in the race said that Angle was beating Reid in the Mormon vote, even though she had made comments against the religion.

If you can find some exit polling data for the race that shows Reid won the Mormon vote, please post it, and I’ll admit I am wrong. I have found no such evidence, and have posted my facts with references.

BTW, many mormons have questions about Reid’s true faith, given his long record of voting against the beliefs of the church; that’s one of the reasons cited for why he wasn’t winning the Mormon vote. Mormons are no more likely to vote for a “mormon in name only” than we are to vote for fake republicans.

I suggest it would be better to work hard to make sure we don’t have to make that choice, than to argue over it.

You are the 2nd freeper to make that claim. I can find no evidence that Reid won the mormon vote; do you have a reference to an exit poll which shows how the candidates did in Nevada by religion?

I think Stan Ann was “married” to him and probably “sealed” to

in the Familysearch website (Mormon) all the dead dunked folk are listed...if you find your family member in there itsa because the Mormons dead dunked him or her dead (or even in some cases still alive...)

I have found several of my ancestors and their consequent dead dunking, mariages to strangers sometimes, endowments sealings etc place date

for a couple the descendants down to that year were sealed to the ancestor...a couple were in the 1950s so that included me...I was now a Mormon through being so called “sealed” to that poor unfortunate dead dunked ancestor..who had originally quite happily died a Christian (Methodist, Presbyterian, Connexion, Anglican etc)

in June of 2008 You could find Stan Ann and by going on into her linked pages the list of what they “did” to her was revealed...

dead dunk, place, (temple and town) date etc

endowments place (T&T) date etc

sealings who to place (T&T) date etc who to place4 date etc etc

the marriage place date would also be listed

If she was dead dunked at more than one mormon temple they are all listed..

about Feb, 2009 the Mormons closed the paged and stopped regular reseachers from going in further...

Only temple mormons can do so now...

So whether or not the Mormon undead dunked Stan Ann liker they promised her children, nobody outside the Mormoin exclusive club members has any idea...

I cannot access my own ancestors records either, anymore...

But I got enough in the past to know that the haunting at the temple by the founding fathers is nothing compared to what my Christian ancestors would do BECAUSE the so called “WORK” was “done” for them

I’m trying not to “expect” anything. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Perry jumps into the race, and Palin endorses him. That’s not really a prediction, but I’ll stand by it if it doesn’t happen and someone drags it out later.

In the meantime, I don’t yet see the clear conservative in the race that could draw the support needed to knock Romney out. But there is still time.
