Nearly a dozen senior leadership positions are filled with dignitaries beyond the retirement age of 75. Will the Curia become more international?
In the Vatican, a number of high ranking staff changes are awaited. Among them, it is not for certain that the Cardinal Secretary of State will remain in office, who is currently the focus of the "Vatileaks" attack. But there are currently almost a dozen senior positions with occupied by dignitaries above the pensionable age of 75. And even if no relationship between leaks scandal and retirement exists, the appointment will this time attract special attention. In addition, it will be possible to observe whether the Curia becomes more Italian or more international For in the discussion about "Vatileaks", the influence and work of the Italians plays a significant role.

This is an "open" thread in the Religion Forum where Freepers may post for or against dieties, beliefs, etc. They may ridicule and they may be offensive. It is in a "town square" format.
Anti-pagan deception to the max.
Hello Mr. control freak!
Your comments say you are here to defeat the truth of God, and therefore he will defeat you, lest you abandon this serpent-inspired quest.
.
Rev 11:*
“And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt...”

Don’t see any Babylon, nor any whore there, do you?
We are told that the whore sits on 7 mountains, and that the kings of the Earth practiced idolatry with her. That is about as good a description of the Vatican as you can get, and add in the killing of the marters and prophets, and avenging the apostles and it is sealed in perfection.
Then let the pagan priests of the vatican put the second commandment back into the ten commandments.
(not holding my breath)
If the nitwit who posted the article didn't want exactly the sort of anti-Catholic slanders and flame bait that's being posted it would have been, at the very least, marked Ecumenical or better still, Catholic Caucus.If the initiator of a given thread doesn't care enough to spend the extra few seconds it takes to label their post in a way that avoids the flame bait then they are as eager to see the anti-Catholic lies and slanders posted as they are to see the article distributed. Rrrright.
The truth becomes lies and slanders when it doesn’t support entrenched catholic abomination.
Thanks for the pope’s fashion show!
But then, perhaps you never have been ashamed about either lying or calumny -- even though both are against the Ten Commandments, however they might be numbered.
Bottom line:
*chapter and verse numbering in the Bible came about in the Middle Ages
* the Catholic Church (which includes Eastern Catholics, too) has two different numbering systems for the Commandments given, one agreeing with the most common Protestant enumeration;
* the Latin Churchs numbering is the most common in the Catholic Church and is the one referred to by Protestants who, ignoring Eastern Catholic Churches, accuse the Catholic Church of having dropped a Commandment;
* no Commandment has been dropped, in any case, but the Latin Churchs shorthand for the Commandments looks different than the typical Protestant version because of how the Commandments are grouped;
* everyone knows how to find Exodus 20 in the Bible, anyway even us stupid Latin Catholics; and
* we dont care how they are grouped together; we only care that they are understood and obeyed not because we are under the Old Testament Moral and Ceremonial Law with its legalism and non-salvific ritual (we arent!), but because we are to obey God as children of the New Covenant, whose moral law includes the Two Great Commandments (to love God and to love our neighbor) which surpass the Decalogue, and whose Sacraments surpass empty ritual, being media of grace.
Thanks to:
The Catholic Church changed the Ten Commandments? No it didn't.
Matthew 16:18
...on this rock I build my church...
It is the Catholic Church that gave us the bible. It was done by papal authority (working with the Bishops). Keep that in mind.
The church had the scriptures of the NT 400 years before the the Roman catholic church was created by the displaced pharisees.
The Rock is Christ (Matthew 16:18)
No, the Catholic Church was created in the New Testament. I assumed everybody knew this.
The Rock is not Christ. I know of no protestant sect that claims this. Most claim that the rock is Peter’s faith, which is still wrong, but at least it is a popular falsehood.
Real, Bible believing Christians all know that the rock is Jesus Christ, just as Isaiah prophecied.
The thing that you call the “catholic” church was created centuries after the epistles were written, by the pharisees that had migrated to Rome. They also later wrote the Quran. Perhaps that’s why JP II and Benedict kissed it.
There are literally hundreds of easily available comments from early church fathers. We have a documented papal succession that goes back to Peter. Google early church fathers and the early church and you will see it was Catholic. They celebrated the Eucharist and not some symbolic breaking of bread.
Follow the context when you read scripture - Jesus is talking about Peter before and after the Rock comment. I have a hard time understanding how anyone reading the verses before and after Matthew 16:18 could come to the conclusion that Christ is the Rock that Christ identified.
If they wrote the Quran then why did they spend hundreds of years at war with Moslems?
From the Song of Moses...
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matt 16:17-18
The whole “Catholics Created Islam” thing is espoused by He Who Is Not To Be Named On The Religion Forum. It’s one of the reasons that H.W.I.S.N.T.B.N.O.T.R.F is banned from specific mention; such garbage just makes FR look too bad, according to the folks who run it. Because it is embarassing.
“If they wrote the Quran then why did they spend hundreds of years at war with Moslems?”
If I recall, the motive according to H.W.I.S.N.T.B.N.O.T.R.F is to persecute Jews.
